Creamy Peppermint Patties Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened
  • 1 teaspoon peppermint extract
  • 9 cups confectioners' sugar
  • 3/4 cup milk chocolate chips
  • 3/4 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 3 tablespoons shortening

Directions

  • In a large bowl, beat the cream cheese and extract until smooth. Gradually add confectioners' sugar, beating well.
  • Shape into 1-in. balls. Place on waxed paper-lined baking sheets. Flatten into patties.Cover and refrigerate for 1 hour or until chilled.
  • In a microwave, melt chips and shortening; stir until smooth. Cool slightly. Dip patties in melted chocolate, allowing excess to drip off; place on waxed paper until set. Store in the refrigerator. Yield: about 4 dozen.

Nutritional Facts 1 serving (2 each) equals 275 calories, 8 g fat (4 g saturated fat), 12 mg cholesterol, 33 mg sodium, 51 g carbohydrate, trace fiber, 1 g protein.

The taste is heavenly! Coating them is the hardest part of making them. After 4 years and trying different methods I've found that using two large 3 prong meat forks works best.

These were soooo goood! They are very simple, but as the other reviewer stated, once you try and dip them in the chocolate, they start to melt...I put them in the freezer for about an hour and then dipped them really fast!

Tasted good and was easy until it cam etime to coat them. Although they had been chilled they still melted once they touched to chocolate. May have to try freezing them.

These were good. My kids loved them, which surprised me a little. Mine seemed a little dry, not creamy like the title says. Not sure what I did different. Will make again, though.
