INGREDIENTS
- 8 cups sliced peeled Granny Smith or other tart apples (about 5 large)
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup dried cranberries
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1-1/2 to 2 teaspoons grated orange peel
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/3 cup whole wheat flour
- 1/3 cup nonfat dry milk powder
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon cloves
- 5 tablespoons cold butter
- 1/3 cup quick-cooking oats
DIRECTIONS
In a large bowl, combine the first six ingredients; toss to coat. Transfer to a 13-in. x 9-in. baking dish coated with cooking spray.
For topping, in a small bowl, combine the brown sugar, whole wheat flour, milk powder, cinnamon and cloves. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in oats. Sprinkle over apples.
Bake, uncovered, at 350° for 40-45 minutes or until golden brown. Yield: 15 servings.
