Corn Dog Casserole Recipe

Reminiscent of traditional corn dogs, this fun main dish really hits the spot on fall days. It's perfect for the football parties my husband and I often host. It tastes especially good right from the oven. -Marcy Suzanne Olipane, Belleville, Illinois

this is my all time favorite.... Love it!

This would be okay as a side or something but I made it thinking it would be good for supper and was very disappointed. Also, I baked it for even less time than the recipe calls for and it was on the dry side.

i was pleasantly surprised by how good this was and not really difficult to make.

taste just like a corn dog my kids loved it

Thought I would love this, as I LOVE corn dogs, but alas, no. I was so concerned about the overcooked and dry results from some reviewers that I think I undercooked this casserole. When I microwaved each piece on individual plates it did taste better, but I still didn't get that "corn dog" experience. Perhaps I'll try a different recipe.

This is a great Sunday Night Supper Dish. I 1/2'd it since I wasn't feeding a crowd and it worked out very well. It was easy to put together and I had all ingredients on hand.

It's a keeper. My husband and brother-in-law liked it. Taste just like a corn dog on a stick. I read some reviews and decided to add more hot dogs into the mix so there wasn't a lot of extra muffin mix. Or I guess you can use one box of muffin mix. ( I wouldn't.)

I was very disappointed in this recipe. There was way too much cornmeal mix -- I would suggest using only one package of corn muffin mix. Everyone left most of it on their plate as the proportion of hot dogs to muffin mix is so unbalanced.

This was so strangely good! I made it exactly to the recipe, except I cut The hot dogs into 1/3 inch coin cuts. I bake in a 13x9 pan and it came out very moist. Served ketchup and mustard on the side and my whole family thought it was really good. This is definitly a keeper!

This is the dish I take to all potlucks. People ask for it now and I rarely have leftovers.

My fiance and I both liked this recipe. A little bit of ketchup and mustard make this just like the corndogs we love to get at the county fair. Will definitely make this again.

My family loves this recipe. It's not very complicated and it's yummy. Make sure that you use a shallow pan to bake it in because the last two times I've forgotten and baked it in a deeper dish and it's taken extra cooking time. Last time I didn't add green onions and only about one tsp. of sage and it still came out delicious.

I've been making this dish since I first saw it published over 10 years ago in TOH. When I first suggested this dish I received some pretty funny looks but, after tasting it, it's now one of the most requested dinners from my immediate and extended family.

I was worried that with all the celery and onions the kids would take issue with it but they all loved it. And one of my favorite bonus is that it yielded left overs!!!!!

We all loved this recipe! Very easy and supery yummy. I didn't use the full amount of green onions - only about half of it. It just seemed like way too much. I made it in a 13x9 pan and it wasn't dry at all.

I cut the hot dogs into 1/4 inch thick rounds as well as the strips that are described in the recipe and the different types of shapes in the casserole made it more visually interesting. Some of the comments said that the casserole was dry. I cooked it in a 9 by 13 pan for 8 minutes less time and it came out very moist. Big hit at the potluck!

We had a party and had a lot of leftover grilled hot dogs. I used the left over hot dogs for this recipe and it was GREAT! I will definately make this again. My family loved it!

Your changes in the recipe sound interesting.

Did you use the listed amount of green onions?

Would this fit in a 9" x 13" pan?

Thank you!Smile

I've always liked corn dogs but didn't want to deal with the mess and don't have a deep fryer so I was glad to discover this recipe. I didn't have celery, so added a can of creamed corn and reduced the milk by 1/4 c. I also took a reviewer suggestion and added green chilies, but reduced the sage to 1 tsp because my husbands not a fan. We all enjoyed it and it's a quick, easy meal that's kid friendly. Will make again.

I'm not a big corn dog fan, but this is a quick and easy dinner that the kids love! I used the Krusteaz all-natural honey corn bread mix, and nitrate-free hot dogs, but that's what I use in other recipes too, so that's what my kids are used to. It was great, and there weren't many leftovers!

The whole family loves this recipe and we make it often! I bake it in 2 casserole dishes and freeze one for another night. I also have used turkey dogs (or a mixture of turkey & regular) with great results.

tasted like corndogs. the kids ate it. might have left it in the oven a tad bit too long but it is something we will have again. did have to use a decent amount of condiments.

Two people in my family kind of liked it, the other two really didn't care for it so much. Personally, I thought it was kind of dry-like and had to put a lot of mustard on it. Then it was better. It really does taste like corn dogs though.

SO yummy!!! And I don't even care for corn dogs. I used Krusteaz all-natural corn bread mix and low-fat turkey dogs to make it a little healthier. I also used fewer green onions than the recipe called for, but it tasted great. Everyone in my house loved it and I'll definitely be making it many more times!

I made this mainly for the kids, but the adults loved it, too! Halved the recipe and baked it in an 8" square pan.

My kids ask for 3rds of this recipe! But they prefer it without the veggies....of course.
