When I take these rich brownies to any get-together, I carry the recipe, too, because it always gets requested. Children of all ages love the tempting "cookie dough" filling. This special treat is typically the first to be gone from the buffet table—even before the entrees! —Wendy Bailey, Elida, Ohio

Substitute for NutsIf your family loves the crunch of nuts in brownies and chocolate chip cookies, but someone is allergic to them, add granola or crisp rice cereal in the same amounts as the nuts called for in your recipes. But, always check the granola or cereal packages for nut allergy alerts to be certain.

Great combination. My daughter eats raw cookie dough, so I appreciate the egg-free dough. The ganache makes it extra special, and I will make a little extra next time.I also have used crushed peppermint chocolate, instead of the chips.

Pound-cake like texture to the brownies. The cookie dough layer is less than 1/4" thick. I would increase the dough recipe by at least 50%.

I doubled the cookie dough filling. These are good, but I agree with other comments about the brownie portion being drier than I would normally like

This is a great recipe..even the big kids liked this one! Making for super bowl party. I added 1 tbsp of cocoa to the cookie dough portion. Using just 1 or 2 tsps of cocoa would be enough..more like a candy bar flavor! Super recipe! A keeper!

I made these for dinner with my neighbors, and everybody loved them! The recipe is very easy and quick to make, and could be made with ingredients that I had on hand. If I make it again, I will likely double the cookie dough portion of the recipe, but that is a personal preference-it is delicious as it is written.

With flour in the cookie dough part, don't you have to bake it?

I used my favorite boxed brownie mix and for a shiny, silky glaze, try melting a can of your favorite frosting on low heat, whisking to help keep smooth. When done, pour over filling and cool. A lot easier than making all from scratch and less time consuming, too!

My sister-in-law brought these bars to a girls family mini-vacation. Between 6 of us, we finished off the whole pan in 3 days. Every time I walked by the pan I had to take a small piece. They are irresistible. I am now making them for the co-workers. We'll see if they feel the same way as I do about them.
