EVERYONE I have ever served it to LOVEs it... except grandma.. and she can't be trusted because she likes only overcooked green beans.

Ingredients

1/2 lb bacon cut in small pieces
4 cups celery chopped
1 onion chopped
3 lg cloves garlic smashed
3 cups chicken broth
3 cups water (more if needed)
1 heaping tsp cumin
1 small 8 oz bag lentils

Directions

1. cook bacon till crisp, remove and drain grease off.
2. saute onion and celery till the onion is clearish
3. add garlic and saute for another minute
4. add cumin, broth, water, bacon, and lentils
5. bring to boil
6. lower heat to a simmer and cook 45 minutes or until the lentils are soft
7. Again: add water if or as needed (it should be like a soup not mashed potatoes!)

This soup should be served hot with a large lemon slice
