I love chicken fried steak but don't always love how salty it can be when we eat out. My eight year old who is a very picky eater could not stop eating this one.

Ingredients

4 Beef Cube Steaks pounded out to about 1/2 inch to 3/4 inch thick about 1. 25 pounds total weight
4 ounces whipped cream cheese with chives at room temperature
3/4 cup yellow cornmeal
3/4 cup all purpose flower

Directions

Coat steaks in cream cheese then toss them in a mixture of cornmeal, flower, and a pinch of salt and pepper. I fried mine in a large pot with 2 inches of canola oil on bottom. Remember to leave room in pot for boil over. Heat oil over medium high heat. Oil is ready when a wooden spoon inserted into oil starts to bubble. Turn steaks over during cooking at least once to ensure even browning and crisping. They will take about 3 to 4 minutes to be medium well. Remember not to overcrowd pot. You might need to do two batches. Cook less or more time depending on how pink you want them in middle and how thick they are. Drain on a paper towel. I served mine with hash browns and white country gravy with a sprinkle of parsley for some color.
