Crumbly Apple Bake

This is such an easy dessert but it taste like you made everything from scratch. I love it served warm with french vanilla ice cream.

Ingredients

1 stick of unsalted butter
1 french vanilla cake mix
1 egg or as I used 1/4 cup cholesterol free egg product
1/2 tsp almond extract
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 cup all purpose flower
21 ounce can of Caramel Apple Pie Filling

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 F degrees. In a mixing bowl with a mixer combine softened butter (you can leave it out until it reaches room temperature or you can warm it in a microwave safe bowl for about 30 seconds, don't melt only soften) cake mix, egg, almond extract, and cinnamon. Mix until you have a nice dough. Press dough into a greased 13x9 inch baking dish, reserving 1/2 cup of dough for crumbs. Bake for 10 minutes in the center of your oven. While that bakes mix reserved dough with flower until you have crumbs. Top partially baked dough with your pie filling and next your crumb topping. Return to oven for 40 more minutes or until it is nice and golden on top and fruit is bubbly hot. Dessert can be served warm or cold. I recommend serving it warm with cold ice cream. Store leftovers in fridge.
