I make these at least once a week for my husband, David. He takes one in his lunch every week and never gets tired of them. I love providing him with something so healthy to snack on that doesn't taste low-fat. —Jessica VanLaningham, Cockeysville, Maryland

Really good tasting bars that mixed up quickly

I just made these for my 2 year old grandson. He loved them and had fun helping MiMi make them!

These bars are delicious. My entire family enjoyed them.

Reviewed on Feb. 02, 2013 by BBMinx

Used 1/2 cup brown sugar and used choc chips and coconut instead of raisins. The flavour is great but the texture is really dry. Anyone have any suggestions as to why they are so dry and powdery?

Reviewed on Jan. 30, 2013 by rwilliams9041

Very good! I cut the bars to be smaller so the calories were lower...added coconut flakes and pecans pieces. I cut the brown sugar to 3/4 cup and I think next time I will cut to 1/2 cup. I also recommend pressing the mixture FIRMLY down in the pan so they stay together when you cut them.

Tasty and easy recipe. Used chocolate chips instead of raisins. Will add nuts and/or dried fruit next time, and use less sugar.

I made these and both my husband and I loved them. I will probably cut down the amount of sugar the next time, but they were moist and delicious! A big hit!

Reviewed on Jan. 17, 2013 by karmelj

I made these and LOVED them. They were a HUGE hit. I do think they have a lot of sugar, so next time I am going to try the Splenda Brown sugar, and maybe use half wheat flour. I also bought mini choc chips to add instead of the raisins for a change.

My husband and I we just love them. I made

some changes, like I use butter flavor Crisco,

1/2 c. brown Splenda, egg beaters,1c whole wheat flour, and cut them smaller 24 pices.

Like we are in Weight Watcher, I cut the 6 points, to 2 points, and we only eat one each every morning with coffee, as we are reading the paper. Mr.&Mrs. John L. Smith

Just loved this recipe! The kids ate it all in two days, so I had to make more. Substituted Chocolate chips instead of the raisins.

Reviewed on Jan. 15, 2013 by bonniesimone

I really enjoyed this recipe. It's a good substitute for store bought granola bars, much less expensive! I did make a few changes, however. I cut the sugar in half. It was plenty sweet with the honey and raisins. I happened to have some coconut oil so I tried that and enjoyed the flavor it gave it. The recipe says that it serves 12. That's quite a large bar. I cut mine in half again so that it serves 24. I guesstimate the calories in that size serving to be about 100. It's a great little snack. I think I might experiment adding some whey powder for a higher protein bar. If you want to splurge you could melt some dark chocolate on top.

Super easy to make. Taste great. A little chewy, a little crunchy! I used craisins instead of raisins.

So good!!! This is the best granola bar recipe I have ever made. So soft and chewy...yet holds together. I did use 1/2 cup white flour and 1/2 cup whole wheat. I used only 3/4 cup brown sugar. The next time I make these I will reduce the brown sugar a little more. I made 1/2 with raisins and coconut and 1/2 with chocolate chps and coconut. I wish I had doubled the recipe...they were that good!!!

Have made this numerous times, so easy to change it up. I have substituted, choc chips, butterscotch chips, coconut, dried berries, whatever is on hand. My college age son always wants a few batches to take back to school wiht him.

This is 6 weight watchers point for 1 bar - that is too much in my opinion.

Have not yet tried the recipe but wanted to thank Sneakipete for making this recipe MUCH healthier. I will use that persons recipe when I try this.

Very good and easy substitutes made this heart healther and lower in sugar.

Changed out the butter and used 2 T butter and 2 T macadamia nut oil (you could also use olive oil). I also used the Splenda Brown Sugar mix (without packing it) instead of packed brown sugar. 2 egg whites did the trick without the extra cholesterol and calories.

Yum!!

I was excited to find a healthy granola bar recipe, but I agree with jreesor; with 231 calories, 6 grams of fat, and 43 grams of carbs they are not healthy. Maybe delicious, but not healthy. It makes me wonder what the standards are for these recipes to be considered healthy. Disappointed.

Reviewed on Jan. 10, 2013 by lutherburbank

Very good unfortunately not so low fat. Changing the butter to a low fat subltitute such as Country Crock sticks will cut the total fat in the fecipe from 28 gram of saturated fat from 28 grams to about 6. I used it in all my holiday baking and noone could tell the difference.

These are not "light" anything. They pack an awful lot of calories and carbs. Be careful!

Reviewed on Jan. 07, 2012 by jenolivia

These are nice and soft like a cookie but easier with less fuss. I would add a bit of salt and some walnuts. I may try them again with walnuts and chocolate chips rather than raisins. Peanut butter would be good too.

I have made this recipe twice. Once in dried cranberries and with raisins. This is a keeper. Keeps on shelve. Don't need to refrigerate. I am passing this on. LOVE IT

These were very tasty! I used real butter, whole wheat flour and since no one like raisins here I used some diced dried apple I had. At first my kids were like they are ok, but within 2 days the pan was empty. Once cooled they were very crumbly, and I cut them into far more than 12 squares but they were very very tasty!

I've made these twice in the past three weeks. The first, time as written. The second time, with half raisins, half chopped dates. These are great!

Did anyone have a problem with stiring once you added all oatmeal/flour etc mixture? I had a very hard time even with my Kitchen Aid.

My kids loved the store-bought granola bars but they were expensive and full of all those things we don't want our kids to have. So, I decided to give these a try, fearing my 'picky' kids might turn their noses up at them. Boy, was I wrong! They BEG me to make these just about every week. They freeze really well and I can just keep restocking our granola bar container. I also substitue different things in the bars....dried cranberries, raisins, dates, carob chips, peanut butter, almonds, pecans....they are all good! Great recipe and very easy and fast to make!
