Tender apples add nice flavor to this quick-to-fix cake from Gertrude Hart. The Oak Creek, Wisconsin cook says the nutty treat was a family favorite when served warm after church on Sunday mornings.

I cannot wat to try this. I will use a regular size çake mix and double everything else. Cook it in a 9" x 13" pan.....hope it works!!

The best Apple coffeecake I ever had. We increased the apples by one and added more nuts. Make this recipe right now

I used (on accident) a larger cake recipe and like it so much that way that I won't bother to find a 9 oz mix!

I have made this recipe many times- it is a true winner! My daughter has a friend who will drive two hours to our house when she hears I am making it. SO easy, SO good.

Great little cake. Because it is very hard to find (9 ounce) cake mix (that would be a Jiffy cake mix which I can no longer find in our area), I use a half box of regular size cake mix. The other half I use for Sunshine muffins which also calls for Jiffy cake mix and Jiffy corn mix. As for the topping--I drop tablespoons of the the batter over the apple mixture eliminating the spreading. Works great!

I really wish I would have noticed that the Yellow Cake mix was 9 oz. A regular cake mix is 18. something oz. Where do you get a 9 oz cake mix. In any way, I used a regular cake mix because I didn't analyze the ingredients list and of course it didn't turn out right which is very disappointing. I really think it should be BOLDLY NOTED that the cake mix isn't a regular size box.

Delicious! I changed a few things the second time I made this. We liked it with more apples and less sugar on top. It is a great recipe, however, it took me a lot longer than 10 mins to prep. Because the batter is so thick, the top layer of cake has to be spread carefully so as not to pull up the filling. If someone has a better idea on this I would love to hear it.

Easy recipe to follow. The apples are a nice treat nestled inside this yummy cake. I enjoyed it with a hot cup of coffee.

An easy dessert. Liked that it made and 8 X 8 pan. Size wise it was perfect for my husband and myself. I made one change when I made it a second time and that was that I used 1/2 cup of nuts rather than 1/4 cup. I would suggest serving vanilla ice cream with this cake.
