Cider Wassail Recipe

Cider Wassail Recipe Cider Wassail Recipe photo by Taste of Home Rating 5

This wassail recipe came from a dear friend in Fort Wayne, Indiana, where we lived for many years. Since it's warm, wonderful and non-alcoholic, we've even served it at church. It's also perfect for a holiday open house. —Maryellen Hays, Wolcottville, Indiana

I made this for Christmas morning. The aroma was wonderful in the house while it was simmering. It tasted primarily like hot mulled apple cider. It did not have the nice, light orange color as shown in the recipe, rather it was a darker brown. I'm not sure why is was too "apple" flavor-wise.

I made this for Christmas day and it was delicious! I thought it could be a little sweeter so I put in 6 tablespoons of brown sugar instead of 2 and it was just right for us.

We had this on Christmas morning and everyone loved it! I made way too much and have been enjoying it on my own... I'm going to be sad when I run out!

this was a pretty close match to the wassil I drank years ago at the Christmas tree farm we went to every year! I just added a bit more cloves and nutmeg.
