made mine with choc-covered marchino cherries with stems, mounted on 1/2 sandwich cookie. SUPER HIT FOR ALL. ALREADY GOT REQUESTS BY COOKIE-SELLERS AT CHURCH FOR NEXT YEAR.

Used "Chocolate Cats" cookies from Trader Joe's for the chocolate wafer cookies. Did not make the mice but made "truffles" out of this super easy recipe and rolled them in a variety of crumbs - graham cracker crumbs, coconut, finely crushed candy canes and finely chopped pecans. Very pretty and tasty! Tripled the recipe.

An absolute blast to make with children. We ate them by holding them by their tales. Lots of giggles. Oh yeah, they taste very good too.

Grandchildren loved them. Can they be frozen??

Do they have to be stored in the fridge because of the sour cream?

I have made these several times. Our church has a Chocolate Festival every October. I also make the Christmas Eve Mice which are made from Oreo cookies. The other half of the cookie I grind in the blender making fine crumbs and use them to make the Christmas Mice Cookies. It makes a more truffle like cookie, almost like a candy instead. So I can make 2 kinds of cookies from a package of Oreo cookies and they sell out quickly at our Festival. The licorice for tails can also be found at bulk food shops or as "wheels" at specialty candy stores. Fun to make and so tasty.

What a great hit this was at Christmas. So easy to make. My grandchildren didn't want to eat them. They thought they were real. These will be made every year now for the holidays.

These are adorable. I made them last year and again this year. Everyone wants the recipe. I couldn't find the string licorice either, so I used the twist and just cut little tails.

These were great fun.I too used chocolate grahams because I couldn't find the wafers.I checked 3 stores and couldn't find string licorice either. Thinking about the fact that no one in our family really likes licorice anyway, I looked for an alternative. I decided on Tootsie Roll Midgies. I cut them in quarters, lengthwise, then microwaved them briefly to soften them, and rolled them in my hands to make them tail-shaped. It added a little more work to the recipe, but now none of our grandchildren will say, "Do I have to eat the licorice?"I do have a question. Do these need to be stored in the fridge?

I love these Christmas mice. Very cute and tasty. I couldn't find chocolate wafers and just used vanilla wafers, and they turned out great. Great fun for the kids, too.

Darling, Unique and Delicious! I found the licorice at a candy store at the mall (rolled up in little wheels that you separate). I only needed about 1/4 cup of the wafer crumbs when I rolled the chocolate balls in them. Before refrigerating the mixture I potrioned it out with a small size cookie dough scoop then chilled the individual portions before rolling them in my palms and shaping them into mice. I'll definitely make them again!

Couldn't find chocolate wafer cookies, so I used chocolate graham crackers. I also used red licorice for the tails. They were so cute, easy and tasty!

My 10 year old granddaughter and I made these this afternoon. She's somewhat hesitant in the kitchen, but had a wonderful time making these. As an added bonus, they taste like chocolate cheesecake! Super easy, and kid friendly.

These cookies were very easy to make and sooo cute, but were not very tasty. We had a cookie exchange and I only had one person out of ten actually like the taste of them. But they all loved the look and the simplicity of the recipe.

Very quick and easy. For the outer coating I changed it a bit using cocoa powder or coconut on a few as I'm making creepy Halloween mice out of them.
