Ingredients

  • 24 double-stuffed Oreo cookies
  • 1 cup (6 ounces) semisweet chocolate chips
  • 2 teaspoons shortening

  • 24 milk chocolate kisses

I made these today and they are so cute. If you create an assembly line they go together easily. I look forward to the reactions when I take them to the cookie swap.

Great recipe. Make sure you dry the cherries with papertowel before dipping in the melted Chocolate. Adorable and a huge hit at my office party!!!

My daughter brought a Christmas mouse home from a Christmas party 13 years ago and we have made them every Christmas since. We melt chocolate bark to dip the cherries in. One fourth of a pkg will make 3 dozen mice. We set the mice on top of a white-chocolate dipped oreo cookie.

This is an awsome recipe to make for a cookie exchange or just too WOW! your friends, and soooooooo.... easy to make. would definantly be a good sell at a bake sale for Christmas.

I have made these many times. They are cute on a cookie plate even if you don't use the oreos. I use melted edible paraffin wax with the chocolate chips instead of shortening for all my chocolate dipped cookies and candies - it makes the chocolate smooth and really easy to dip.

I use these wrapped individually in cellophane tied with red ribbon as small gifts to co-workers in my office.

I made these years ago and didn't know where my recipe was. Thank goodness for the internet! Found it in a few minutes compared to looking thru books for hours. I love these little mice and I'm going to make them for our monthly quilting group!

These were fun to make and better to eat. I shared some with my quilt ministry and they all wanted to make them.

I bought the book "Treasury of Christmas Recipes" just to get this recipe and I've never been disappointed. I make these every October for our Chocolate Festival at church. With help, we made over 200 last year and sold every one. With the half of the Oreo not used I grind it up in the blender using the fine crumbs to make the Christmas Mice Cookies recipe which taste like truffles. So you can get 2 kinds of cookies from a package of Oreo cookies. I find also most people don't want to eat them "they are too cute".

My 10 year old daughter made these with very little assistance from me. She took them to school for her 5th grade class brunch and they were one of the first desserts gone. Alot of compliments for very little effort

So easy to make! The most time consuming part was taking the foil wrap off of the Hershey's Kisses. I took them to two parties at Christmas and ran out of mice at both parties.

Love this recipe. My kids love it and have fun helping to make them. Any ideas of what to use as ears in place of almonds? My son is allergic to tree nuts? Thanks.

This recipe is so easy and the result is so cute! It was a slight labor of love. Took me 2 hours to make 50 from start to finish. Another variation I saw was to use a white chocolate covered oreo for the base - that would save from having the extra cookie halves! Great recipe though! Love it!

These cute mice are always a big hit. I've been making them for about 5 years. I use them alongside name cards at table settings on Christmas Day. Inevitably, every time I bring these mice to a Christmas gathering or bake sale, I am asked for the recipe. Using the Double-Stuffed Oreo is KEY!! They're so much easier to pull apart than the standard oreo. Also, let the melted chocolate cool just long enough so that it is not too "loose" and you'll get better results.

This is the first cookie that is chosen for Family Cookie Night during December at our house. We love them. I have made them with my Missionettes at church for their families and girls could wait to be a part of my class and make them. Our granddaughter strted making them when she was 3 years old.

These turnes out so delicou and cute that I would not even want to eat them! They only took about what...20 minutes tops! Very easy for kids to make and simply! I microwaved the simisweet chocolate chips in the microwave for 1 minute with the shortening and it took a little stirring and was all set! Make sure to stir it up because the chips suill look whole and if they are microwaved too long, they burn. Plus, I don't have a double boiler either. If you don't have double stuffed oreos, using vanila or any favorite flavor frosting on a chocolate cookie and put the mouse on top! My family was amazed to see hese very cute creatures!

I made these mice at Christmas and took them to two different parties and they were a big hit. Not only are they cute but they taste good too!

A co-worker brought these to work and I immediately made them for my next event. They disappeared from the plate so fast, they were gone before I went through the line. They are SO easy to make and so cute. I didn't even put the red eyes or put them on an oreo, but I will definitely put them on an oreo next time because the chocolate stuck to my plate. This is adorable and loved by all!

These cookies were so easy to make and to my surprise they were the best tasting of all the cookies I made this year.

These where absolutely wonderful. They got rave reviews at our Christmas Bazaar.

My cherries where a bit small for the "kisses' face so I used Chipits Mini-Kisses and cut the almonds in half (placing the cut behind the kisses).

Both the recipe and the made-up mice are much in demand.

Thanks for such an adorable project!!

Hi I make these mice, but I don't separate the oreo's cause it was so timeconsuming, so I purchase white coated oreos and put the mice on it and decorate the sides of the cookie

they are always such a big hit

I have been making these cute little mice for about 10 years now. I get requests every year at Christmastime. I make them without the cookie and I also "spike" the cherries. I usually soak them in Oct. so they get good and spiked.

I have been making these for 3 years now and they have become a much asked for "tradition" at the annual family Christmas party. Little red hearts instead of the holly and berry make them "Valentine Mice" and great treats for school.

My sister, sister-in-law and I made approximately 75 of these cute mice for a senior citizens Christmas party. One was placed at each place setting.......they were a huge hit! A couple of nights later I went out for dinner in a small local restaurant and I overheard a conversation between 2 couples who had been in attendance at the party......they were talking about how cute and delicious the ittle mice were. They had no idea I had been involved in making them, and were very complimentary about the little mice! They were such fun to make and present!

Just thought it would be a good time to mention this about these mice treats. I once included a couple in a treat box I gave to the people at our pet's boarding kennel, they thought the mice were so wonderful that they saved one on the check-in counter for all to admire.

We love this recipe! I is so easy and so much fun to make...I did not use the Oreo Cookies....I just made the "mice" and used candy gift boxes to place them in for a nice presentation....everyone loved them!
