Chocolate Snowballs Recipe

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chopped nuts
  • 1 cup (6 ounces) chocolate chips
  • Confectioners' sugar

Directions

  • In a bowl, cream butter and sugar. Add egg and vanilla; mix well. Combine flour and salt; stir into creamed mixture. Fold in nuts and chips. Roll into 1-in. balls.
  • Place on ungreased baking sheets. Bake at 350° for 15-20 minutes. Cool cookies slightly before rolling in confectioners' sugar. Yield: about 4 dozen.

Nutritional Facts 1 serving (2 each) equals 183 calories, 11 g fat (5 g saturated fat), 24 mg cholesterol, 111 mg sodium, 20 g carbohydrate, 1 g fiber, 3 g protein.

Super easy and yummy! I've made this for my book group twice and the kids gobbled them up!

I have no idea why anyone would say this recipe was messy. It's so easy that if you can screw it up, you probably shouldn't be in the kitchen. Sorry, but that's how I feel. They are suppose to be light and just lightly flavored. If they come out dry, then you most likely are over baking them. And you may want to check your oven temperature. You can also cut back a little on the flour if that makes you happy. But, mainly, don't over bake them!!

Love this recipe!!! I added a 1/4 tsp of peppermint extract to give the cookies a hint of mintiness!!! They were delicious!

This recipe reminds me of mexican wedding cakes or russian tea cakes...my family loves it no matter what it is called!! For a healthy kick, I substitute half of the white flour with whole wheat! It adds a nutty flavor to the cookies.
