Chocolate-Dipped Orange Spritz Recipe

Ingredients

3/4 cup butter, softened
1 cup sugar
1 egg
2 tablespoons orange juice
4 teaspoons grated orange peel
2-3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
1 tablespoon shortening
1/2 cup ground walnuts

Directions

In a small bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg, orange juice and peel. Combine the flour, baking powder and salt; gradually add to creamed mixture and mix well.
Using a cookie press fitted with a bar disk, form dough into long strips on ungreased baking sheets. Cut each strip into 3-in. pieces (there is no need to separate the pieces). Bake at 350° for 8-10 minutes or until set (do not brown). Cut again into individual cookies if necessary. Remove to wire racks.
In a microwave, melt chocolate and shortening; stir until smooth. Place walnuts in a small bowl. Dip a cookie halfway into chocolate and allow excess to drip off; coat with walnuts. Place on waxed paper. Repeat. Let stand until set. Yield: 4 dozen.
