Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Cheesecake Recipe

Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Cheesecake Recipe Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Cheesecake Recipe photo by Taste of Home Rating 5

I created this recipe to combine two of my all-time favorites, cheesecake for the grown-up in me and chocolate chip cookie dough for the little girl in me. Sour cream offsets the sweetness and adds a nice tang. Everyone who tries this scrumptious treat loves it. --Julie Craig, Kewaskum, Wisconsin

25 45 70

Ingredients

  • 1-3/4 cups crushed chocolate chip cookies or chocolate wafer crumbs
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup butter, melted
  • FILLING:
  • 3 packages (8 ounces each) cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup (8 ounces) sour cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 eggs, lightly beaten
  • COOKIE DOUGH:
  • 1/4 cup butter, softened
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1-1/2 cups miniature semisweet chocolate chips, divided

Directions

  • In a small bowl, combine cookie crumbs and sugar; stir in butter. Press onto the bottom and 1 in up the sides of a greased 9-in. pan. Place pan on a baking sheet; set aside.
  • In a large bowl, beat cream cheese and sugar until smooth. Beat in sour cream and vanilla. Add eggs; beat on low speed just until combined. Pour over crust; set aside.
  • In another bowl, cream butter and sugars until light and fluffy. Add water and vanilla. Gradually add flour and mix well. Stir in 1 cup chocolate chips.
  • Drop dough by teaspoonfuls over filling, gently pushing dough below surface (dough should be completely covered by filling). Place pan on a baking sheet.
  • Bake at 350° for 45-55 minutes or until center is almost set. Cool on a wire rack for 10 minutes. Carefully run a knife around edge of pan to loosen; cool 1 hour longer. Refrigerate overnight.
  • Remove sides of pan. Sprinkle with remaining chips. Refrigerate leftovers. Yield: 12-14 servings.

The cheesecake part of this is really good, and is now one of my go-to basic cheesecake recipes. I used oreos for the crust, as that's what we had on hand. However, the cookie dough isn't my favorite. To me it doesn't taste like real cookie dough, and is more of a distraction in the cheesecake than an enhancement. I made 2/3 of the recipe (2 packages cream cheese, 2/3 cup sugar, ect.) and baked it in an 8-in. spring-pan, and that worked great. So basically, I think it's a great cheesecake base, but not so great cookie dough.

Amazing! Two of my husbands favorite in one dessert. I did not use all of the cookie dough I think I reserved about a 1/2-3/4 cup but we just made cookie dough shakes with it!

This is my new favorite recipe---definitely gives you that cookie dough feeling! I might add less butter to the crust mixture next time and will probably lower the temp. to 300 and cook a little longer (the edges/top browned more than I would have liked). After topping w/ the chocolate chips, I drizzled caramel and fudge topping over everything. It was a big hit!

I made 3 cheesecakes for a 4th of July party. This one was the first one gone. I'm a complete cookie dough lover and I was seriously upset that I didn't set a few slices aside for myself.
