Chocolate Chip Cheese Ball Recipe

Chocolate Chip Cheese Ball Recipe Chocolate Chip Cheese Ball Recipe photo by Taste of Home Rating 5

Your guests are in for a sweet surprise when they try this unusual cheese ball…it tastes just like cookie dough! Rolled in chopped pecans, the chip-studded spread is wonderful on regular or chocolate graham crackers. I especially like it because it can be assembled in a wink. —Kelly Glascock, Syracuse, Missouri

Everyone loved this cheese ball when I made it for 2 different Christmas parties. I rolled the chilled ball in Heath Toffee Bits the 2nd time I made this. I also served the cheese ball with Gr. Smith apple wedges (unpeeled) and gingersnap cookies for a variation. This is very addicting!

A nice after-dinner treat that worked well with pretzels.

I took this to a housewarming party and everyone raved about it. I did not make it with the walnuts. I ended up rolling the cheese ball in graham crackers and chocolate chips and it made for a tasty treat. Served it with graham crackers and mini pretzels. Super easy to make and delicious!

Use regular butter. Not margarine as it did not set.

This is AWESOME! Was big hit at our latest party! I did not make a ball. I spread it in a pie plate and topped with ROASTED pecans, That way you get pecans in every scoop.

BANGIN'!!!! This recipe is super easy and scrumptious. I used low fat cream cheese, and added a 1/2 cup powdered cocoa for a whole new level of deliciousness!! Yes, the low fat version is hard to roll in a ball, so I added the chopped pecans to the mixture and called it a dip, served with salty mini pretzels...but my son ans I just ate it with spoons!! YUM!!

I used a strawberry flavored cream cheese and everyone thought it was great! It put it over the top in added flavor.

Have made this for years. I roll the bar in mini chocolate chips instead of pecans. Helps people realize it is more of a dessert and not a traditional cheese ball. Works well with graham cracker sticks.

Reviewed on Feb. 01, 2012 by Emmy25

Been making this for over a decade now. I do not roll it in pecans but rather, leave it as it is or will roll into a bit more mini chocolate chips. I serve with chocolate graham crackers. It is like frosting.

I love this cheeseball! People always seem a little surprised to taste a dessert cheeseball, but also always love it. About the trouble with setting up....could be the amount of butter. Perhaps less would allow it to set, but still add flavor.

Reviewed on Feb. 01, 2012 by Suep2012

Do you really use 1/2 cup butter and doesn't taste too buttery?

Reviewed on Feb. 01, 2012 by Sweetgnlittlet

I grind the pecans finely and mix a bit in the cream cheese mixture and coat with the fine grind. I can get the pecans in there better for me. Sometimes I grate dark chocolate instead of the chips too. Chocolate Teddy Grahams are great if you aren't a fan of regular ones too!

I have been making this delightful recipe for many years. It is the most requested dessert that I make during the holidays. This is definitely a recipe that requires the use of full fat cream cheese. I've read some other reviews that indicate that it didn't set up properly. This is a result of using light, or fat- free cream cheese. I find that mixing the ingredients and placing in the refrigerator overnight will help when forming it into a ball. I actually make the cream cheese mixture a few days before serving. I love the way the favors come together after a day or two. To prevent the cream cheese from sticking to your hands when rolling the balls, I rub a small amount of butter on my hands. This easy recipe is sure to please....Enjoy!!

I Make this for parties & get many compliments. To make a ball I neatly spoon it onto the dish I'm serving it on then use a piece of plastic wrap to form it into a round shape. (I don't roll it) I then sprinkle the pecans on it while pressing them into the ball with plastic wrap. Then I clean up the plate around the edges with a paper towel. I serve it with regular, cinnamon sugar & chocolate graham crackers.

This is SOOO good!! I get compliments and requests for the recipe everytime I make it. I do use light cream cheese, and it turns out great. It is a little harder to form, but I just chill it overnight and it forms good. It's allso a nice change from the usual desserts, something different. And so easy to make, too.

Delicious! If you ever get cravings for chocolate chip cookie dough, this will satisfy! And while it's tasty on graham crackers and vanilla wafers, I like it best on mini pretzels. I didn't have time to shape it into a ball, so I just put it in a dish and sprinkled the pecans on top. I had a little melted chocolate left over from another recipe, so I drizzled it over the top and it looked very fancy. Everyone loved it.

My entire family loves and asks for this often.  It turns out best with regular cream cheese, low fat or fat free don't set up as well, it will stay a little soft or almost runny.

In my family we use this recipe for baby showers and dip in Chocolate Chip Teddy Grahams instead of plain graham crackers. We also roll in more mini chocolate chips instead of the pecans. It is great and so cute!

Tastes great...but mine did not set up enough to be rolled into a ball. I used fat free cream cheese...maybe full fat should be used?
