I developed this sweet chocolate and banana bread after looking for ways to use extra dried tart cherries. It’s so rich and moist, no one will guess its lighter. —Cindy Beberman of Orland Park, Illinois

Fantastic! Lovin every bite of it. I'm going to try it as muffins next. You can taste the chocolate, cherries and the bananas in every bite. Soooo moist! It will also be incredible with chocolate chips.

I made this recipe into 12 muffins and I loved them! Us ed Fage 0% greek yogurt in place of sour cream and walnuts instead of pecans just because that's what I had on hand. Also added a bit of ground flaxseed for extra fiber and Omega 3. Perfect with morning coffee on the weekends.

Oh so yummy! I doubled the recipe since I had more than one banana ready to go out, and used three eggs versus the egg white combo. Came out beautifully and was gone within 24 hours! This is like chocolate cake in disquise!!

My running groups loved this bread. I've made it several times. The chocolate, cherries and banana make it a tasty treat.

I have to say I made this recipe exacly as was instructed, but I found it came out very dry, even my husband thought so and he has quite the sweet tooth. I will make this recipe again but I think I may experiment a little to see if I can't make it a little more moist this time.

I've made it twice so far. Loved it. Gave some to my daughters, and they loved it. I actually substituted the dried cherries for dried cranberries (craisins).

some members of my family said it was a great bread with coffee, some thought it was too bland, I agree with the ones who said it was a great coffee accompaniment.

Excellent chocolate flavor; very moist. I left out the cherries (and boiling water) and added dark chocolate chips. Wonderful!!! I will certainly make this again.

Awesome recipe. Used frozen cherries instead of dried. Brought it to work and it was gone in an hour.

I am glad to read the reviews. I was going to get dried cherries today but at $10 a bag I backed off. I have the marechino cherries here so will try those. Thanks for posting the reviews.

We really enjoyed this bread recipe. I like to make different breads and put them in the freezer and this one was different and great.

I was disappointed in the recipe. Not enough flavor, dry was baked to directions of the recipe.

I didn't have dried cherries, so I used maraschino instead. It was good but I thought it was dry. I cooked it the least amount of time suggested. I probable won't make it again.

Excellent! If one would want to add chocolate,I would not add chocolate chips but a good chocolate melted, one that has at least 80 per cent cocoa. Chocolate chips have stablizers in them that only allow them to expand and would not produce the flavor one would want. The cherries complement the chocolate very well. I -did put them in a cup of boiling water to plump them before adding them to the batter. It also helps adding the true flavor of the fruit and makes them taste more like fresh juicy cherries. I can't wait until fresh cherries are in season!

Chocolate cherry banana bread is a delicious treat that my family absolutely loves. We make it very often and use it for special meals, as it tastes so very good. It's a keeper, for sure, and one we'll be making many more times.
