Chocolate Applesauce Cake

Ingredients
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 1-1/2 cups sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons baking cocoa
- 1-1/2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 2 cups unsweetened applesauce
- TOPPING:
- 1 cup (6 ounces) semisweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans
- 2 tablespoons sugar
Directions
- In a bowl, cream butter and sugar. Add the eggs, one at a time,
- beating well after each addition. Combine dry ingredients; add to
- the creamed mixture alternately with applesauce. Pour into a greased
- 13-in. x 9-in. baking pan. Combine topping ingredients; sprinkle
- over batter. Bake at 350° for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick
- inserted near the center comes out clean. Yield: 16 servings.
