Chinese Pork Ribs Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup reduced-sodium soy sauce
  • 1/3 cup orange marmalade
  • 3 tablespoons ketchup
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 3 pounds bone-in country-style pork ribs

Directions

  • In a small bowl, combine the soy sauce, marmalade, ketchup and garlic. Pour half into a 5-qt. slow cooker. Top with ribs; drizzle with remaining sauce.
  • Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or until meat is tender. Thicken cooking juices if desired. Yield: 4 servings.

Makes the meat very tender.

I used boneless beef short ribs with good results. Added 1/2 tsp. ground ginger and used teriyaki sauce instead of the soy/ketchup. At the end, I thickened the liquid with a mixture of cornstarch/cold water. The family ate it up!

Another version uses teriyaki sauce in place of the soy (eliminate the ketchup) for a slightly spicier and gingery taste

I have made a recipe like this for years. To spice it up add 1/2 teaspoon (or more) of Madras Curry powder. Note: If you add 1/4 cup of orange juice it works well covered in a 325 degree oven. Yummy
