1/3 cup butter, softened 1/3 cup shortening 3/4 cup sugar 1 egg 1 tablespoon milk 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 2 cups all-purpose flour 1-1/2 teaspoons baking powder 1/4 teaspoon salt FILLING: 1 package (3 ounces) cream cheese, softened 1/4 cup sugar 1/4 teaspoon almond extract 1/2 cup finely chopped maraschino cherries 1/4 cup sliced almonds, toasted and chopped
In a large mixing bowl, cream the butter, shortening and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg, milk and vanilla.
