I altered it slightly. Instead of broccoli I used corn, instead of the 1 c of reserved cooking liquid I used cream of chicken soup, and instead of shredded cheddar cheese I used Velveeta cheese cubed. I also added a little chili powder for a little spice. Served it with biscuits and the whole family loved it:)

My grandmother found this recipe for me when I needed it for a soup-potluck, we fell in love with it while making it! It's incredibly aromatic and tasty!

Easy, and picky eater approved! Some of us don't like broccoli, so I add a can of corn instead.

This is the best soup I've ever tasted! I used 3/4 cup of ham, I sauteed the onions using butter spray, fat free cheese, 1 1/2 cups of non-fat milk, and added 1/2 cup low fat sour cream -and it cut out tons of fat grams, and was so so so good. Everyone I make it for asks for the recipe. With lowered calories and fat grams, I can eat it more often. You've gotta try it. It's a keeper with our family and friends!!

I was out of potatoes but still wanted to try recipe. I had a box of BC scalloped potatoes. So I used the dehydrated potatoes and added them as my potato source. I followed the rest of recipe and the outcome was very good.

This was really good. I used probably more than 2 cups potatoes...I like a lot. Boiled them in chicken broth for some added flavor. Used low fat milk and butter substitute to help with the fat content. And put shred cheese on the table rather than adding on stove. I especially loved the addition of the broccoli as I love that as well.
