Cheddar and Sausage Quiche Recipe

Ingredients

  • Cooking spray
  • 8 ounces fresh mushroom slices
  • 1/2 cup fresh chopped onion
  • 12 ounces pork sausage
  • 4 eggs
  • 8 egg whites
  • 1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1/4 teaspoons salt
  • 1/4 teaspoons black pepper

Directions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F.
  • Lightly coat skillet with cooking spray. Heat over medium-high.
  • Add mushrooms and onions. Cook, stirring occasionally, until onions are translucent, about 8 minutes.
  • Move onions and mushrooms from skillet to mixing bowl.
  • In separate bowl, lightly beat eggs. Set aside.
  • In separate bowl, lightly beat egg whites. Set aside.
  • Place sausage in skillet and cook until easily crumbled and no longer pink, about 8 minutes.
  • With slotted spoon, move sausage from skillet to paper towels to drain.
  • Combine sausage, eggs, egg whites, cheese, milk, salt, and pepper with mushroom mix in bowl.
  • Lightly coat 10-inch pie plate with cooking spray. Spoon mixture into pie pate.
  • Bake 30 minutes, until completely set. Allow to rest 5 minutes. Cut into 8 slices, serve warm.
