I take this pie to lots of different gatherings, and I make sure to have copies of the recipe with me since people always ask for it. It's amusing to see some folks puzzling over what's in the filling - they expect apples but love the subtle sweetness of the pears. -Cynthia LaBree, Elmer, New Jersey

this is a very yummy pie! it's so easy to make, too. the cheese on top was an added surprise.

I did have some trouble with the top over-browning and the bottom crust being a tad soggy. Next time I would decrease the oven temp and increase the baking time.

Oh, my gosh! This pie is delicious! It is easy to make and the pears provide such a lovely taste! I used sharp cheddar cheese (only 1/4 cup) as that is all I had in the refrigerator, and it was so good.
