I was raised on a small farm, the youngest of eight children and the only girl. My mom taught me how to make all kinds of pies from scratch, and this is one of my favorites. Caramels and apples are a delicious combination.

Good but too sweet. Everyone at Thanksgiving dinner felt the same. If I make again, I'll cut the caramel topping in half as it was too much, though I did use a 9" pie pan. Followed directions exactly. Needs less sugar in mixture for apples and more cinnamon.

Wow this was incredible! My family really enjoyed this pie not only warm but it was sooooo good chilled....like the ultimate caramel apple. Kids liked it with whipped cream and a little bit of grated chocolate. Yum.
