I love Caprese salad & this was a great idea, but tasteless. I would not make again.

This is the easiest chicken recipe I think I've run across in a while. It was very tasty. As another reader wrote, I minced some garlic and used Italian seasoning and smoked apple bacon. I didn't use salt or pre-cook the bacon, instead I cut each raw piece in half and criss-crossed it on the chicken. A company-worthy recipe!

Oops! Forgot to mention, I, too, cooked the bacon in the microwave and it worked beautifully. For the person who thought this recipe was tasteless, perhaps, using the basil pesto would give it more flavor for you. Still, we think it a wonderful recipe!
This is one of our favorite chicken recipes. I've made it four times now. The first time I didn't have fresh basil, but do keep basil pesto in the freezer. I eliminated the olive oil and spread a couple tablespoons of pesto over the chicken then added the tomato slices and bacon. It was delicious. The last time, I was out of tomatoes and used some drained canned tomato chunks, not as good, but worked. I also split our chicken breasts in half horizontaly for the two of us so the baking time is cut to 15 to 20 minutes. This recipe is so versatile, easy and delicious, no wonder it is Contest Winning!

very good and easy to make...one thing tho, I cooked the bacon in the microwave? and I think turkey bacon would probably be a great alternative.. even my picky kids liked it..

This was delicious and beautiful! Be careful not to overcook the bacon. Hubby doesn't care for tomatoes, so I left them off of his serving.

Should I say what I really feel, or give this a Big Plus rating because it's a "prize winner"? Which is what I believe most of the reviewers must have done. I found this recipe flat, tasteless, utterly lacking in appeal. Sorry. I almost feel guilty speaking my mind on this, but if others agree, perhaps they'll know they're not the only ones.

This was delicious. I made the recipe as written but wondered if it could be made in the microwave one breast at a time. I am single and am always eating leftovers from recipes like this. Anybody try it?

This is a wonderful recipe. The chicken was moist and very flavorful. My family loved it. I cooked the bacon in the microwave for 2 minutes before placing on the chicken. It makes for a beautiful dish. Can't believe how quick and easy it was. I also flattened the chicken just a little to help it cook through.

I liked this recipe but I would not pre cook the bacon next time. Also, I think it needs more basil. I guess it's according to one's own taste.

I tried this out tonight. Yum!!!! Absolutely delicious and it will become a frequent meal in our home. This will be a great entree for guests- I plan on making it again next week when my mom visits. Thankyou for such a tasty and even attractive addition to my menus!

Excellent! Had only thick-cut bacon on hand, so cooked it a bit longer before topping the chicken, also only had grape tomatoes so I halved those. Also looking to reduce the number of dishes so lined the baking sheet I used to cook the bacon with foil and then cooked the chicken on the same pan with the bacon grease--not particularly healthy, but very YUMMY!

I'm about 2 years late in reviewing this recipe. I first made it when I was 'Mommy sitting' my 90+ y.o. Mom.I made it as is, but inserted some garlic and added Italian seasoning along with the salt and pepper.I served it with hot buttered noodles. Mom started eating the noodles while I cut up some of the chicken for her. She then took a piece of chicken and she totally ignored the noodles, which she loves! So seldom have I seen her concentrate on only one item of food, but she did with this. She finally looked at me and said, "I can't eat any more!" We had the 're-dos', cold, for lunch the next day and the were amazing cold also!I've made this 'several many' times, and for Mom too, and I still totally enjoy it. It's a recipe that cannot be ignored - repeat, repeat, repeat!! TEN STARS!!!

Really good. I used fillets instead of chicken breasts, so I used the lower cooking time. Easy and relatively healthy if you cut the bacon to 1 slice per chicken breast. Definitely a keeper in this house. Also would make a yummy sandwich.

We enjoyed this. However, I used thick bacon and it didn't wind up as crispy as we would have liked it, so next time we'll use a thinner bacon.

This recipe was really yummy!! I seasoned the raw chicken w salt/pepper, and layered the tomatoes, then basil on raw chicken, then wrapped raw bacon around the chicken and baked (bacon seem side down) on a cookie sheet about 20-30 min at 375, til chicken was cooked through. Then broiled to make bacon more crispy for just a couple min. (no cheese on hand, so left it out) My husband said it was the best chicken hes ever had!

Yes, the aroma while baking really whets your appetite.
Very easy to put together and looks elegant enough for a restaurant.I used ready to eat bacon right on the chicken, that way you skip the step of cooking bacon first. I used a regular tomato instead of plum tomato.

The chicken seemed a little dry, so next time I will likely cover it for a portion of the baking time. Topping is delicious.
