In our area we are able to camp almost all year-round. My family invented this recipe using ingredients we all love so we could enjoy them on the campfire. This hearty meal tastes so good after a full day of outdoor activities. —Janet Danilow, Winkleman, Arizona

To all of you that "invented" this recipe, I just think you are ALL great cooks and you know they say great minds run on the same track ... must be why you all are on this website!

My mother invented something similar back in the late 1940s except she used sliced hotdogs and cubed potatoes only. We called it "Hot Dog Hash" and us kids loved it!

Well, I, for one, have never made this, so I can't be like the rest and say I invented it!! It sure looks and sounds good though.

I thought I invent this, TOO! We used to make it camping with the kids years ago, but I added yellow squash, zucchini and a bell pepper. It was wonderful one pan meal. :-)

I make this with green beans instead of corn to add color. It is always a hit. Even my husband likes to make it!

I make a simular dish with sausage, pepperoni, sliced potatoes and spaghetti sauce mixed together in a large fry pan and topped with mozzarella cheese. We call it potato pizza. It's so easy and tastes great!

I've been making this dish for over 30 years. I use sweet potatoes(the white & red kind) mixed with russets. You can add anything to this dish.No more leftovers in the fridge. It's one of my favorites & my kids & grandkids favorite. Couldn't get any easier.

I thought I invented it too! I have made this with smoked sausage or ground beef, and added seeded and thinly sliced jalapeno. Have not tried the chili peppers tho.A great all around dish for an easy dinner!

Well what do you know?! Here I thought I invented this recipe. My husband loves the fried potatoes and sausage. Try it with green and red sweet peppers instead of the green chilies, it's terriffic.
