I have my own version, that does not use salad dressing and canned chicken. Canned chicken is horrible, I use a rotisserie chicken and shred the meat off the bone with a fork making sure to not include skin. I just use 2 cups cheddar, 8 oz cream cheese, 1 cup Franks and bake. The dressing and canned chicken make it mushy and slimey.

The first time I made this the cheese (like others have said) turned crusty on top and hard to get through. Now I just leave the cheese out, don't really need it! I use 1/2 cup of the Franks Hot Sauce and use blue cheese (ranch isn't Buffalo LOL) and use celery for dippers. Excellent!!!

this recipe is direct knock-off from a recipe by a name-brand wing sauce company. Coincidentally, I made their recipe just last night. The only difference is their recipe called for blue cheese dressing and 1/2 cup of blue cheese crumbles in the mixture. This version is very delicious.

The first time I made this, I followed the recipe and did the layering gig. The next time I made it, I decided to blend the dressing, buffalo sauce, chicken, and half the shredded cheese together and spread it over the cream cheese, adding the remaining shredded cheese on top of the mixture to melt while it baked. My family likes that alot better, and so do our friends, who always ask that I make it for Super Bowl, Thanksgiving, New Year's Eve, and even camping! I'll pretty much make it for any gig that we have, and I always make sure to have plenty of tortilla chips and copies of the recipe on hand, because both will be gone within five minutes!

After seeing others' reviews about the cheese layer getting hard and tough to cut through, I decided that rather than layering to instead combine all ingredients and bake it. Though my cream cheese was well softened and I blended it all together thoroughly, I ended up with small cream cheese chunks and strange consistency. Everyone loved the flavor, but the texture and look was off-putting. Just thought I'd pass along that 'warning' to anyone else considering the same. Next time I'll follow the recipe, maybe layer the shredded cheese.

Being from Buffalo NY, we make this all of the time but with some changes. First of all we use real chicken breasts that we boil, cool and then shred. To that we add the hot sauce and spread that over the cream cheese. Next, real chicken wings are served with Bleu Cheese, so we use Bleu Cheese dressing not ranch. Then we top it with just shredded cheddar cheese. Bake as stated in the recipe, serve with tortilla chips.

This dip is AWESOME!!! I have made it a number of times (and been asked for the recipe every time). I used Red Hot Wing Sauce, but if that is too hot you can use whatever strength of hot sauce you like. I actually mix everything together in a bowl. With the wing sauce and dressing a fork works great. It leaves the cream cheese sort of chunky so you get the pockets of cool creaminess throughout the finished dip. I put it in a shallow baking dish and sprinkle some chedder cheese over the top to finish it. I think I might try some blue cheese next time. Again this is so awesome and goes over SUPER good.

I see all these reviews with people complaining about it being to spicy and laugh because thats how its SUPPOSE to be! :)If you can't stand the heat... LOLThe only thing I will change next time is to maybe divide the shredded cheese and layer it throughout because the whole amount on top was really thick and once it started to cool it was hard to get through, so I had to break it up with a fork. It was a minor nuisance though and the flavor far made up for it. Absolutely awesome! Give it a try.

I have been making using this recipe for a couple of years and am still being asked to bring it to get togethers. Our family does prefer the bleu cheese dressing over the ranch. I've never actually baked it in the oven, instead I microwave it and serve it out of a dip size crock pot. It isn't as pretty as the picture but still very delicious!

I've tried this both with ranch and blue cheese dressing. The blue cheese is much better. I've also added some partially cooked chopped celery which makes it even better. It adds a nice crunch and lots of flavor.

Made this in a crock pot at Christmas. Turned out great; not too hot but you still get the buffalo sauce flavor. Even the kids were crazy about it.

We all just love this dip. I do add more chicken----either a 12.5 oz. can or a 10 oz. can and a 5 oz. can. Everywhere I have taken it I have had requests for the recipe. I make Italian bread in the bread maker and slice the bread slices into quarters and serve it with the dip. We have been known to have this is a meal. Our mail handler was at an event where I brought it and she left a note in the mailbox requesting the recipe.

I've made a similar recipe before, you can replace the Ranch Dressing with Bleu Cheese dressing which is typically served with traditional "Buffalo" wings. Also, you can experiment with other kinds of shredded cheese, I use cheddar and mozzarella. Delicious!Jenna, Buffalo, NY

I also replace the ranch dressing with bleu cheese dressing, but I also use my mixer and mix the cream cheese, bleu cheese and wing sauce together - spread on the bottom of the pan and add the chicken and some extra wing sauce, then top with cheddar cheese. The mixture on the bottom makes it easier to dip with breaking your chips!
