We live in Montana, & my husband loves to hunt. Trying to keep whole eggs from freezing and cracking was always a challenge until this recipe. Now after whisking the eggs, we add what other ingredients we like & put everything in a zip lock baggie then freeze them. It is much easier to keep something froze when it's winter. First one up in the morning, puts water in kettle to boil, put the bags in for approximately 8-10 minutes & you have an omelet. No need to even fold, they just come out that way. taste great!

Yes, we use different size zip lock bags. Gallon for the hungry person. Smaller bags for children...
We take zip lock bags, write the persons name on the bag. We have a roaster oven filled with boiling water and we have a huge bowl with eggs we whipped and then we have little bowls cheese in one, onion, chopped ham, mushrooms.... the person takes the zip lock bag puts the ingredients they want and zip it close. Put that bag into the boiling water for maybe ten minutes. Viola!! Eggs are cooked. serve with bacon, or sausage, potatoes... Our camping days are awesome!! We have maybe 50 to 70 people. We have had little gatherings of 15 people too. More people more roasters. We always look forward to camp. Kids have fun too. And are more willing to eat there mix.

I would like to try this recipe but don't have a grill. I am planning to have a campout meal with my young grand daughters in my back yard but will need to bake in my oven. At what temp and time do you think would work best? Thank you.

I make omelettes quick and easy by boiling them in a bag...break your eggs in a ziploc bag and add what ingredients you like..before you even leave to go camping. I take along a pot to boil water in over my fire...throw the bags in.. careful not to let them touch the sides too much so they dont melt.. I find skewers pushed thru the top of the bags and laid over the top of the pot works nicely...each person can customize their eggs to their liking. This is a hit with my family.
