I doubled the recipe and added some onion and bell peppers.... I was glad for the extra flavor from that, but overall disappointed in the blandness of the dish.

I have made this several times. I vary the meats (ham, breakfast pork sausage, Italian sausage...almost anything you have will work). I like to use 3 slices of bread, for a firmer texture. Yummy.

I made this during Thanksgiving Weekend; Even my picky eaters love it!! Now for us adults--I add onion, chopped sweet red peppers. Yes I have to make two pans--otherwise not enough to go around:) So easy! Thanks for sharing your recipe!

My family loves this dish. I like to put it together the night before so I can just pop it in the oven in the morning. I used maple flavored sausage in a pinch once. Now that is our favorite way to make it.

very good & easy-i changed quite a bit:used 1 hot dog bun torn,2 precooked sausage patties, cut into pieces, 1 slice american cheese, torn,2 eggs & 1 egg white, 1/2 c fat free milk.& rest of ing.. i sprayed a 2 qt saucepan with oil then added bread, sausage and cheese, turned on heat while mixing ingredients, poured over bread, sausage & cheese, covered and cooked on med. To speed it up i turned it when one side was brown, covered & cooked til done. it puffed nicely and tasted great.

This is just the base I was looking for! Very good, I also added some chopped green onion and tomato. I didn't have Gorgonzola, I used cheddar instead. Very easy, simple and tasty! Thanks for sharing.
