I always make this recipe for my dad on his birthday and holidays. He says it tastes exactly like the bread pudding with nutmeg he enjoyed as a child.

Very good. My husband loved it served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Will definitely make again.

I neglected to say I substituted left over homemade biscuits for the bread cubes. I didn't think the biscuits were very good, but they tasted great in the pudding.
Dessert can't get better than this. I thought bread pudding my mother made was wonderful in the 30's, but I'll quit looking for an old recipe now--can't get any better than this. Thank you for sharing the recipe.
