Bratwurst and Beef Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 lb top round steak, cut 1 inch thick
  • 8 ounces chicken bratwurst, chicken, cooked
  • 1 tablespoon canola oil
  • 1 large onion
  • 8 ounces chopped green, red or yellow bell peppers
  • 1 teaspoon crushed thyme
  • 1/8 teaspoons salt
  • 1/8 teaspoons black pepper
  • 29 ounces canned unsalted diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 2 tablespoons quick cooking tapioca

Directions

  • Remove excess fat from meat, cut into 4 equal pieces.
  • Cut bratwurst into 3/4-inch slices.
  • Peel onion and slice into rings.
  • In large skillet over medium heat, heat oil and cook meat and bratwurst until brown on all sides. Drain off fat and set aside.
  • In 3 1/2- or 4 quart slow cooker, place onion and sweet pepper. Sprinkle with thyme, salt, and pepper.
  • Add undrained tomatoes, tapioca, beef, and bratwurst.
  • Reduce heat to low, cover and cook 8 - 10 hours, or on high heat setting 4 - 5 hours.
