I agree about the negative comments, some of us really enjoy using a recipe, especially if it has been around for a long time. That just tells me that it must be pretty good!

Since this was the "recipe of the day" on line I was curious what made oatmeal with blueberries so special and found out actually nothing. I agree with fe-eagle213 this is just basically oatmeal with fruit. As for "beginner" cooks like qwm, the recipe is on the side of the oatmeal box.

The one ingredient some of the cooks below need is a Pound of Kindness and omit the sour input.

Good basic recipe. I use nonfat milk and Splenda brown sugar. Also have tried other fruits.

I Have always added fruit in season to my oahmeal...it was always the kids choice and they always enjoyed it. This is noting new.

Thank you for the good, simple recipe for the "beginner" cooks like me. Maybe "iron-eagle213" could try adding a heaping tsp. of kindness next time and refrain from negative comments.

We've been eating this great recipe on a regular basis since it first appeared in "Cooking for Two." We perfer milk over water, always add brown sugar to taste and blueberries to top it off (I warm up the berries before adding).

Not very heart healthy.No need to add salt.I use 1/2 water,1/2 light soymilk.Sometimes I add cut up apples,or dried cranberries, or cherries,or a combo. I add flax seeds as well. Much less sodium, and calories, and healthier !!!

I don't find anything special about this recipe...it's pretty much just a regular oatmeal recipe with cinnamon with blueberries scattered on the top.

I make a more "heart-healthy" version of this every morning - water rather than milk, and no sugar. I also add finely chopped almonds, and recently have been adding a tablespoon of ground flax seeds (supposed to be good for me, but I can't taste any difference). One thing I do for a little variety - sometimes instead of adding the blueberries at the end, I cook them with the oatmeal - makes them softer. Or I add frozen blueberries to the cooked oatmeal - there's a little surprise zing when I bite into a cold berry in the hot oatmeal.
