made it this morning with gluten free oats! The blueberries are my favorite part! The little burst of juice and flavor makes it that much better.

I agree that one should be nice and kind and positive, however, when rating a recipe it is necessary to point out the negative aspects as well as the positive.

I add ground flaxseed (cold milled), dash of ground cinnamon and use light vanilla soy milk. No salt or sweetener. Can also add frozen cherries for natural sweetness and nutrition. Simple, comforting recipe with a wallop of nutritional goodness and it keeps you full for hours.

Very sweet. When I made this, I cut the sugar to 1/4 cup. When I make this again, I'll reduce the sugar even more.

I have a similar recipe that I use. 1/2 cup old fashioned oatmeal, 3/4 cup skim milk, 1/2 cup blueberries, 1 tblsp Whey Low Gold brown sugar, a pinch of cinnamon, a splash of vanilla and 1 tblsp sliced almonds.I cook the oatmeal and 1/2 cup skim milk and 1/2 cup water together for about 5 min. Thaw the blueberries in the microwave for about 30 seconds. Dump the oatmeal over the blueberries, add remaining 1/4 skim milk, vanilla, cinnamon and Whey Low brown sugar. Mix all together and sprinkle with almonds. Almost like dessert and only 305 calories.

You know, I read all the reviews, good and bad. Yes oatmeal has been around forever but can you find anything more creamy, wonderful, warm and satisfying every morning? I can't. I have eaten it all my life and still love it. (I'm 75 years old). When I don't feel well (not just because I am getting older) I have oatmeal for dinner and it just makes me feel soooo much better. So think a little before being negative about any wonderful recipe just because you don't like it. Everyone can't love every recipe but keep a little kindness going for good feelings.......

I have used this recipe, except I use skim milk instead of 2% and honey instead of brown sugar. I add the honey after cooking the oatmeal.
