I created this recipe in a larger quantity to enter in the Kentucky State Fair. It won first place! Since biscuits are best fresh out of the oven, I sized my recipe down to yield four—perfect for two. I make them whenever biscuits fit into the menu. —Bessie Hulett, Shively, Kentucky

i have made these 4 times now in the past 2 days. they've all tasted good, but only my 4th batch actually rose. i also added a tbsp of honey to the recipe. i had to pat these out to almost an inch thickness to get them to look more like biscuits and not so much like cookies. but either way, i love the flavor :) now that i've got the recipe figured out (for my preference, at least) i'll definitely make these over and over!

This was so easy to make! I like how the outside is lightly crisp and the inside soft. Delicious!
