My entire family loves this cheese dip. I often get requests to bring it to gatherings with friends. Chopped scallions make a pretty garnish. —Julie Koch, Delaware, Ohio

Only needs 1 jar of cheese as it was too strong tasting.

Didn't have bacon. Added ground red pepper (1/8 tsp) and garlic powder (1/4 tsp).

This was deeelicious! I added a little minced garlic and fried my own bacon. The beer really gives it a wonderful flavor. Will definitely make again.

Very easy to make, good flavor, went over really well at Super Bowl party - especially with the guys who liked the "beer" appeal!

I think this is the recipe that was such a hit when I made it before. I usually can't stand fake cheese, but in this recipe, it works. My only complaint is that the jarred cheese called for is a tad bit pricey, so I can't make it very often. Still, I would definitely make it again!

Reviews are written after the recipe has been tested. If a category is noted, the recipe should conform to that category and should be considered when reviewing. This recipe says it is "Quick" and yes it is that. It is also very flavorful. I loved it and will make it again when we have Football Parties

People it isn't like you are going to pick up the bread bowl and drink the beer cheese!  Get a life!  I put cut off the top of the bread to make a bowl and pull out some from the bottome - but cutting up another loaf of bread gives enough cubes to use for a party !  I never bring any of this home - goes like crazy at super bowl parties!

Love the recipe and its adaptability! For nojoro if you're worried about the alcohol in the beer use non-alcoholic beer. The beer is integral to the flavour of the recipe.

I have been making this recipe for over 20 yrs.! I don't microwave anything. Have cream cheese at room temp, 1 jar of cheese whiz and minced garlic. I always use low fat cream cheese. Combine cream cheese, cheese and garlic using electric mixer. The beer is to thin it out. I don't measure the beer, just add to the consistency I want. Great for parties. Fun to use another loaf of different bread to cube.

lots of ways to play with this one to "make it your own"...easy as is...

We love beer cheese soups, dips and this one is just as delicious. For those that want to argue on nutrition, find appropriate recipes for your desired nutritional benefits or health issues. As far as the recipe and taste, for those that are interested in the actual quality of this recipe, it was great. I did add some chopped green onion and I actually used a Hawaiian bread bowl....

Is their a substiture I could use for the beer?

Reviewed on Sep. 04, 2011 by Toni51

To me, I would have preferred real shredded cheddar rather than the jarred cheese spread ... but there is no question that this is quick.

I wouldn't make this recipe for health reasons.

My mum used to make this whenever she would have company. There would literally be nothing left by the end of the day. Take away the bacon bits, add a bit of garlic powder, and you will have her recipe. Good stuff!

After tasting a bit I added garlic powder and about 1 teasp dill. I think next time I will try maybe some chopped chili peppers and maybe some minced onion.... I thought it was easy and good a recipe you can play with to suit your own taste!!!

So easy and delish. This was very quick to prepare and my family loved it. I wasn't able to find pumpernickel, so I used a sour dough round and served it with pretzels for dipping. It went quickly and got great reviews. This will stay on my rotation for easy entertaining.

I have made this dip a couple of times and always get compliments. I serve it with pretzels and the bread.

This was enjoyed by all, but I thought it needed something - it was too bland for me. I'd add green onions or some cayenne pepper next time just to punch it up a bit.

My sister made this recipe a few weeks ago and it was really good. If you like cheesy dips and a fast dip to make, try this one.

I made this & my family loved it. I added real bacon & garlic powder, plus some fresh chopped basil. Will make this for the holdays & sprinkle paprika on top for color.

after adding bacon bits, try adding a 1/2 oz package of Ranch dressing mix a little at a time until desired tase is achieved.

Add some garlic powder instead of the bacon bits
