Beef Lasagne Recipe

Beef Lasagne Recipe Beef Lasagne Recipe photo by Taste of Home Rating 5

This recipe is one of my mom's specialties. It's a hearty main dish that gets requested time and time again. The from-scratch sauce makes each cheesy slice extra flavorful and softer-textured than other versions.—Kim Orr, West Grove, Pennsylvania

Tried this recipe once almost a year ago & kept on using it ever since. Only problem was that I ran a little short on the sauce. Either way it's absolutely delicious & everyone who has tried it loved it!

I first found this recipe years ago in the magazine. It's been my lasagna recipe ever since. I have adapted it a bit for my personal tastes. I don't like cottage cheese, so I don't use it. Still it's such an excellent recipe.

This was absolutely delicious. It's the way lasagna should taste. But, I was low on cottage cheese and only had half the mozarella. So I used a smaller pan, fewer noodles, and ended up using the whole portion of sauce. Wow! It was so good! I used the entire packet of onion soup mix. It was very salty, but still tasted yummy. I also added 1 tsp of basil, and used and extra clove of garlic. I had leftover Italian tomato paste (with garlic, basil and oregano), so that might have added a punch to the sauce too. But, delicious, nonetheless. This recipe is a keeper!

This has been my go to recipe for a couple of years since I found here on the TOH site. I lighten it up by using ground turkey, fat free cottage cheese and reduced fat mozarella. I used to spend a fortune and hours making lasagna. This recipe is as good as lasagna gets!

Very good! The first time around I like to follow the recipe to a "T". It had good flavor though next time I would like to add fresh mushrooms, onions, and green peppers to it. I was a little worried that it wouldn't be saucey enough for me but turned out it was fine. Overall, it's a big thumbs up!

I so unsure about the onion soup mix..so I started with half then just put in the whole pack in. I also added 1 teaspoon of galic power, 1 teaspoon of basil and a extra glove a garlic with the beef. It smells amazing...the sauce is so good. Thanks for sharing this recipe.

My family did not like the sauce because they missed the Italian herbs I usually use.

This is the best lasagna recipe I've ever made. My husband told me to "mark this one down" because it is excellent. This recipe was featured in TOH's article "my mom's best meal." All of the companion recipes were also very good.

Having been married to 2 Italian women, I was sceptical to9 any Italian using onion soup mix in a pasta sauce but the lasagna was excellent! My wife wants me to make it again.

Very true that this is the BEST lasagna recipe I ever tried and I have tried dozens. This is a recipe from about 1972 and it was originally published in the AMANA Radar Range Cookbook. I think it is the onion soup that really makes the difference. It is as good in the microwave as in a regular oven. Whenever I fix this for company they always ask for the recipe.
