Basil-Garlic Green Beans Recipe

Ingredients

  • 3 pounds fresh green beans, trimmed
  • 5 tablespoons reduced-fat butter, cubed
  • 6 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tablespoon dried basil

Directions

  • Place beans in a large Dutch oven and cover with water. Bring to a boil; cover and cook for 8-10 minutes or until crisp-tender. Drain and keep warm.
  • In the same pan, melt butter. Add garlic; cook for 1 minute or until golden brown. Add basil and beans; toss to coat. Yield: 12 servings.

Editor's Note: This recipe was tested with Land O'Lakes light stick butter.

Nutritional Facts 3/4 cup equals 56 calories, 3 g fat (2 g saturated fat), 9 mg cholesterol, 37 mg sodium, 8 g carbohydrate, 4 g fiber, 2 g protein. Diabetic Exchanges: 1 vegetable, 1/2 fat.
