I developed this recipe in an effort to add pizzazz to my plain banana bread. I was pleased with the results, and so were my family and friends! —Janis Allnatt, Rochester, New York

Very disappointing. I was making this for a bake sale at my Senior Center - so glad I tasted it first. This sounded so good and I couldn't wait to try it. Entirely tooooo much chocolate and I love chocolate. Dry and crumbly and no distinct flavor (other than the chocolate). A complete waste of my time and effort, not to mention the cost. Unfortunately it ended up in the trash. Definitely will not try again.

I did not have 2 small cans of pineapple so used a large 20 oz one and also used white chocolate chips ... omitted the nuts and probaly 1-2/3 cup banana. I also substituted butter for the shortening. Folks at Church really enjoyed and I will be making again -- was thinking about strawberries so thanks for the heads-up!

Yes. I would make it a gain, but I would cut back on the chips. My husband liked it but also agreed too many chips. So next time I am going to use only one cut and see if the flavor of the other fruit stands out more. Also using strawberries sounded like a great idea. Thanks to all of you for your great ideas.

Just made this. 2 small problems. To much chocolate chips and you couldn't taste the pineapple. I will use this recipe again.

I wanted to try something new and had bananas to use, This was wonderful. It was a hit with my family and also at work. I might cut back on the chocolate chips next time, I thought they over powered the fruit flavors. Thank you for sharing this wonderful recipe.

Oh, my gosh, is this GOOD! I did as another reviewer suggested & replaced some of the cherries with an equal amount of fresh strawberries. It was a good change. The only thing I noticed was that the flavor of the pineapple wasn't very distinct. No one complained about that, though. This will be the banana bread recipe I use from now on!

I really enjoyed this recipe. I did replace shortening with butter and reduced the amount of cherries which I diced and replaced with diced fresh strawberries. All banana splits have some form of strawberry. Other than that made per recipe. The baking time was spot on for my oven. Make two big beautiful loaves. Would definitely make again.
