Banana Fritters Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 egg
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 1-1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 6 medium firm bananas
  • Oil for deep-fat frying
  • Ice cream

Directions

  • In a large bowl, combine the first six ingredients. Cut the bananas in half lengthwise, then cut into 1-1/2-in. pieces. Coat bananas with egg mixture.
  • In an electric skillet, heat 1 in. of oil to 375°. Fry bananas for about 1 minute on each side or until golden brown. Drain on paper towels. Serve warm with ice cream. Yield: 6-8 servings.

This was pretty good. I ate all of mine, but my husband didn't finish his. I wouldn't do the chocolate syrup though... but you definitely want ice cream to go with it!

I wanted a quick and easy recipe for banana fritters, and this one worked great. I thought it came out kind of thick, but it worked fine, sticking to the banana pieces. I also tried it on some apple pieces. I served the fritters dusted with powdered sugar and some strawberry jam that I warmed up in the microwave. Everyone loved them.
