Canned soup, white wine, Swiss cheese and crushed croutons dress up chicken breasts in this elegant entree from Beverly Roberge. Ideal for unexpected guests, it only requires a few ingredients. "The creamy sauce is excellent with garlic mashed potatoes or rice," says the Bristol, Connecticut cook.

Tip

Quick Homemade Croutons

I hate to waste the heel from a loaf of bread or a few leftover hot dog or hamburger buns. So I cube them into a bowl, spray them with nonstick cooking spray and season with garlic powder, parsley and basil or oregano. Then I bake them on a cookie sheet at 250° until they’re crisp and brown. My family loves the quick homemade croutons. —Nancy C., Windermere, Florida

It was a good recipe but wayyy too salty... The croutons and cheese definitely were a nice touch... I used only chicken broth... Maybe that's why.. Would make again but opt for low sodium broth and soup..

Super yummy. Love the contrast between the sauce and the crisp croutons. Couldn't be easier to assemble and bake. Will definitely be making this again

This was the first time I made this recipe and my family really enjoyed it. I didn't have croutons but did have a small amount of potato chips left in a bag so I used those instead. Oh, and I did use wine instead of chicken broth. I will definitely make this again!

I have made this recipe many times, including holiday dinners for the extended families. Everyone likes it and most take seconds and thirds. I use chicken broth instead of wine and finely crushed stuffing mix instead of crushed croutons and sometimes add cooked, diced bacon under the cheese to make a sort of cordon bleu. I have used sliced and shredded swiss cheese with equal results...delicious.

My hubby and 2, 4, and 6 yr old LOVED this recipe. I thought it was very good and it was SO easy to make. I am planning on using ham next time to go on the chicken before the swiss cheese to make it kind of like a chicken cordon bleu dish... we will see how it turns out!

My husband really liked this receipe and so did my 4 year old son. That is why it got 3 stars from me. I however did not like it at all. I don't exactly know what about it I did not like but it just was not a good flavor for me, and I love all the ingredients by themselves but not together. If I make this again (because my men loved it) I think I will use half white wine and half chicken broth because I think that is what was the main reason I did not like it. The wine was too strong.
