This is a fun way to serve bacon cheeseburgers without all the fuss of assembling the sandwiches to serve a gang. These convenient packets can be dipped into ketchup or barbecue sauce as you eat them. —Marjorie Miller, Haven, Kansas

I made these for a group but made them smaller than this recipe suggested. They were a hit. I did not have Velveta, so I used processed American cheese.

To save time, I used crescent rolls - 3 tubes (8 rolls in ea tube). I didn't have Velveeta on-hand but did have Cheez Whiz (15 oz jar). We LOVED these! The kids thought they were fun. Definitely making these again and again. I didn't dice the bacon before I fried it. I fried the slices, and after they cooled I crumbled them (but not too small) - again, saved some time. And I added some ground cumin for a little extra flavor to the ground beef, and didn't brush them w/butter.

I discovered these almost two years ago, in your magazine and was thrilled to see them as recipe of the day!! I have made them many times over the years, even replaced for hamburgers at our children's birthday parties. I make them a day or two in advance and heat in oven with a bowl of water and they stay moist. If we won't be able to eat the whole batch (which isn't often!) I place them, unbaked on cookie sheets and freeze - I pull them straight from the freezer and into the oven for a great weeknight meal. I've made many variations, but my favorite is to use deer burger meat and add some Worcestershire sauce.

This recipe is GREAT!! I used premade pizza dough. My whole family loved it. So so simple. I will make this again and again.

why couldn't you use crescent rolls to wrap. Just saying if you have trouble with making dough. It would also speed up the process

There are a lot of good ready made roll doughs out there that can save time for us busy cooks.I love these recipes but can they be made a little healthier and easier to prepare?

Love this recipe. The first time I made it the store was out of regular Velveeta so I used the Mexican variety. This is how we like it best--spices it up just a bit.

My mother, and I tried this recipe last night for dinner. We did make a few changes to the recipe by using wanton wrappers instead of making the dough. I do have to say that it was very delicious, and also very rich. With the amount of velveta cheese, and bacon called for in this recipe yielded about 12 buns since we used large wanton wrappers. I would recomend using a lighter velveta cheese or cut back on amount of cheese called for. Also with the bacon I would recommend cutting back on the amount called for as well. As all I was able to taste at the first bite was bacon, and cheese. The taste of both over powered the taste of the beef. The wanton wrappers worked out nicely as we baked them instead of deep frying them. The only issue was that they didn't really bring anything to the table as far as taste. They only added to creamy texture of the bacon, burger, and cheese mixture.Over all this was a very excellent dish, and will be happy to make it again. Next time make a few minor modifications to the recipe.

These are reminiscent of the super popular cheeseburger turnovers that were judiciously served at the school cafeteria. I believe it was the school's most requested recipe. My loft is too cold for dough to rise (and my oven is in the wall!) so I use frozen bread dough for these types of things and it works beautifully. As to the salt, I think the level of salt here is correct but if your bacon is extra salty, you might want to adjust.

I used the dough setting on my bread maker, and cut the recipe in half. The dough made a really nice "roll" ... very soft and more attractive after you brush on the butter at the end. I used a good sharp cheddar, but about half the quantity. When you can't make burgers on the grill, go for these delicious bundles.

i made these for a superbowl party & they were DELICOUS! they dissapeared & got soo many compliments & am always asked to make these for every get together now. I used Rhodes rolls instead of making my own :)

I made this after a friend recommended it. I like and will be making it again. You have to press the corners together tightly in the middle or they tend to pop apart. Aslo I used much less salt. Between the bacon and the cheese, I felt it was almost salty enough.

These are great. I used the recipe to make panzzarotti and my nephews loved them. I served with tomato sauce for dipping. Big hit.

Amazing! New family favorite! Used 2 tubes crescent rolls instead. Fused 2 triangles together then cut rectangle in half. Saved a ton of time.

Love this recipe. It is very time consuming but well worth it. My little girls are so picky (as is my husband) and they all loved these. I did make them bigger, more like a bierock.

Very good and easy to make. The dough was very simple and I just used the rise time to do other things. For a weekday would use crescent dough or frozen rolls as other reviewers wrote.

I made these for my boyfriend and he absolutely loved them!! I wouldn't recommend making your own dough though - very time consuming! Buy the frozen dough and set it out in the morning so it is thawed and has risen by the time you are ready to cook.

Who would want a burger after having this?!?!?! OMGness. This was amazing & during the meal we talked about different people & places we could serve these little gems. I halfed the recipe.I gave it 4 stars because the buns call for shortening which is loaded with transfats. I replaced the shortening with butter (which has saturated fats) and it was wonderful & a little less life threatening. I also used 2% velveeta & real bacon, which are less messy and have less fat than if I'd cooked the bacon myself. I prepared my dough in a bread machine using rapid yeast & had dough in 45 minutes. I didn't brush butter on them afterwards...that seemed like a pointless step.

If you make the dough in your bread machine on the dough setting, it makes the recipe so much easier. The recipe even works well halved! A family favorite!

This recipe was so delicious and easy to make... the hardest part of making it was the buns, but that's because I didn't use my rolling pin, which I probably should have. The buns work good in a bread machine on dough cycle. These tasted like a burger fresh off the grill though. My husband loved it and so did my baby girl, this was a really easy meal for her to eat! We will definitely be making it a lot more in the future!
