Bacon, Cabbage and Noodles Recipe

Rating 5

I received this recipe from a friend of Hungarian descent. Some folks turn up their noses when this is presented, but after one taste, they always come back for seconds...and thirds!

Paprika made it better. Made it with 1/2 pound bacon (what I had open) and mini spiral pasta (out of egg noodles). A nice, easy dinner.

Old fashioned comfort food! Perfect for a night when you are tired and hungry and need something comforting. Quick and easy to make. A definite keeper.

A dash of good Hungarian paprika brought this from very good to great!

I add butter and sometimes use Conecah sausage instead of bacon. I always heard the dish was called Halushka (spelling?) and my family LOVES it.

This is absolutely delicious. My mother taught me this combination over 30 yrs. ago. I've kinda tweaked it a little. I add some Greek seasoning and garlic and use linguine as the pasta. Haven't had any lately so thank you for the reminder recipe.

I tried this using the added onion, vinegar & sugar, still thought it was a little blah. Probably won't make it again.

My grandmother made something like this when I was a child. My mother gave me approximate ingredients. Along with the cabbage add a thinly sliced onion. Then, with the salt and pepper, add tablespoon or two of vinegar and a tablespoon of sugar. It's sooooo absolutely delicious, hot or cold!

I have been preparing cabbage and pasta together for years. My mother gave me the idea many years ago. I had never really thought of adding the bacon. I will definitely try this next time. Thank you for such a great recipe.
