"THIS DESSERT is delicious hot or cold. It pops up slightly when baked and has a nice golden-honey color. Any type of fruit or preserves—cherries, apricots, strawberries, applesauce, etc.—works as a topping. You also can use a variety of ingredients in Babka—try it with raisins!"

Just wanted to clarify for those searching for recipes that this is a kugel, not a babka (which is a yeast cake). Also, a kugel made with spaghetti is a crying shame. Use egg noodles.

I've made this many times, both with and without raisins. Most of my family especially love the squares with a dollop of cherry pie filling, but I'm partial to apricot preserves.
