These quick hors d'oeuvres may be mini, but their bacon and tomato flavor is full size. I serve them at parties, brunches and picnics, and they're always a hit...even my kids love them. —Kellie Remmen, Detroit Lakes, Minnesota

I've been making this recipe for many years. The only difference is, instead of parsley, use a nice helping of lettuce (that's the L in BLT!)

I loved this recipe and so did my family. My daughter even ate them and she hates tomatoes. :) I added a few things of my own because I had them on hand and it just seemed like they would taste good in there. I used about a half of a sweet onion, half a pack of ritz crackers and two dill pickles. They turned out SO good. I also used some of the insides of the tomatoes because it seemed wasteful throwing it all out. I used the tomatoes that are the size of a golf ball (not sure what they are called) and they seemed to work well with the filling. YUM! The only advice I have is if you are using these as a snack and you are keeping your eye on the amount of calories you are eating during a day to make sure you look at the calories for these because they are about 113 per tomato which is not what I was expecting when I hate 4 of them... :/ But, still super yummy and I will definitely be making them again.

These are way too much work for what you end up with.

went with themonica review and was a little upset as we made 250 tomato wedges and they thought it was red pepper, personally I would make again with cherry tomatoes and just for a house pary to much work for a wedding etc.-Lurleen

Awesome awesome recipe! I did end up doing a few things differently. I used the 3 oz bag of precooked crumbled bacon and, because my daughter really dislikes onion, I used fresh basil instead of the green onion and parsley. Also, by the time I was ready to stuff the tomatoes, I had to add almost an entire 1/2 cup extra of mayo! (Cheese absorbed and stiffened everything.) It filled 2 pints of small cherry tomatoes easily. (Used the baggie method.) And, for presentation, I placed fresh basil leaves all over the plate and put these on top. A couple leaves on top...everyone thought it was beautiful. Very happy with this recipe!

Yummy! Awesome! It's a KEEPER!I've made these a few times and will continue to. I will gently squeeze the tomatoes to scoop out the juice and seeds (they don't look squished.) You can use a piping tool to fill the insides. No matter how you do it - it's worth the work. I have in the past used a bag of dried beans (rinsed and cleaned) to hold-up my tomatoes and layered curly lettuce on top and around the tomatoes and beans to make it look nice. And to the reviewer that asked where the "L" was, this is called a BLT BITE because it "taste" like a BLT sandwhich. Thank you Kellie for posting this. EXCELLENT!

I absolutely LOVE this recipe! I don't use the cherry tomatoes, what I do is take a regular vine tomatoes, slice them into wedges, remove seeds/guts, pat dry with a paper towel and dollop the mix on the wedge. Not only does it stay standing up, it is much quicker and you still get all the flavors.

Fantastic. After reading reviews we used a baby spoon to scoop & a zip loc baggie to fill. As for Sloose & the lettuce we set tomatoes on a bed of lettuce(helped them to stand). Went great with the gillled london broil. Can't wait for my tomatoes to grow. No changes. Thanks for sharing.

These are B L T Bites? Where's the L? There's no lettuce in the list of ingredients.

I made these for a baby shower and they were delicious. A friend told me that if I chopped up the bacon before I cooked it is would be lots easier than crumbling cooked bacon and it cooked faster as well!

I made these for a halloween party this year and they were a huge hit! I had several requests for the recipe. I made a couple minor changes and used real bacon bits instead of cooking and crumbling bacon. This saved a lot of time and was much more convenient. Also, I don't think I used quite as much Parmesan as the recipe calls for. Another tip is that I used a 1/8 teaspoon to hollow out the tomatoes instead of a regular spoon, it's smaller and worked much better. I'll be making these for many more events/parties!

Okay, but I used grape tomatoes because they were all I could find...wouldn't recommend that. They were too small and most of filling was not used. While tasty, it was finicky to get the filling into the tomatoes themselves. Would make again but use bigger tomatoes. The filling however was very yummy to munch on after.

These taste awesome! They are a bit of a pain to try to stuff in the little tomatoes. I am going to make them for a Christmas party, but I will have to prepare the tomatoes at home and fill them once I arrive. I will put the bacon through the food processor and put the filling in a piping tool. I think it will make it much easier and less messy than trying to travel with them already prepared.

I used this recipe for the first time for a cookout and it was a hit with everyone, even people who didn't care for tomatoes!! Awesome recipe!!

Very tasty, but I would not make it again. I selected this for a picnic because it was labeled as "quick". Not so much. The filling only took about 5 minutes but it took me over an hour to prepare them with the cutting, scooping and filling. Then I had to cut the bottoms because they would not stand up on the platter. This led to some casualties because some of the tomatoes just weren't big enough which meant I had to make even more. Very tedious and time-consuming work for 25 bites of tomato.

My husband and I make this recipe for almost every gathering we go to. However, because neither of us are very fond of tomatoes, we've replaced them with cucumbers and use the filling as a dip.

I've made these for years. One of my most requested appetizers. I might even use "administrator's" idea, but modify it further by mixing chopped tomato in with the filling and serving as a dip!

After making the Bites, I had a brainstorm. For summer fresh tomatoes, cut thick slices of big tomatoes, place on a butter lettuce leaf, spoon the BLT filling over the tomato, decorate with chive straws and serve as a salad. Divine.

These were absolutely wonderful. The filling went farther than the recipe shows. I took the suggestion and used a little of the chve and onion cream cheese spread for part of the mayonaise. I took them into work and they were gone within 1 hour. I will definitely keep this recipe handy!

Have brought these to many events and they always disappear. I cut the bottom of the tomato, very slightly, so they stand up better in the pan. Plus, they are bite size and not messy, perfect for summer get togethers!

I've made these several times w/ a few changes. Pick larger cherry tomatoes b/c it's easier to scoop out the pulp w/ a grapefruit spoon. To save the hassle of cooking bacon, use a 3oz package of Oscar Meyer real bacon bits (not pieces), or less if you choose, and 1/4 cup mayo and 1/4 cup of chive and onion cream cheese. The rest is per the recipe. Can make ahead and refrigerate. Delicious!
