Apricot Baked Ham

Taste of Home - try a FREE ISSUE today!

Ham is a super choice for a holiday meal because once you put it in the oven, it practically takes care of itself until dinnertime. I serve it because everyone in my family loves it! The sugary crust makes the ham beautiful to serve. -Marge Clark, West Lebanon, Indiana

SERVINGS: 10-14

CATEGORY: Main Dish

METHOD: Baked

TIME: Prep: 10 min. Bake: 1 hour 40 min.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 fully cooked bone-in ham (5 to 7 pounds)
  • 20 whole cloves
  • 1/2 cup apricot preserves
  • 3 tablespoons ground mustard
  • 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar

Directions:

Place ham on a rack in a shallow roasting pan. Score the surface of the ham, making diamond shapes 1/2 in. deep; insert a clove in each diamond. Combine preserves and mustard; spread over ham. Pat brown sugar into apricot mixture.
Bake at 325° for 20 minutes per pound or until ham is heated through and thermometer reads 140°. Yield: 10-14 servings.
