Meet the Cook: As soon as I was old enough to stand on a chair, I started cooking. This recipe came from my sister-in-law. It's a favorite at our large family gatherings. Our five children are grown. My husband and I have six grandchildren. -Julia Quintrell, Sumerco, West Virginia

Simple yet tasty! A small serving goes a long way with this dense, sweet treat.

I absolutely love these bars. I have been making these for our harvest crew during harvest time for a couple years now and all the guys just love them. Great alternative to the usual cookie.

This is easy and sooooo good. I made the bars with the self-rising flour substitute but only used 3 teaspoons of baking powder and 1 teaspoon of salt. The butterscotch chips add a depth of flavor to the cinnamon apple goodness.
