The muffins are good but next time I will omit the filling. I think it took away from the taste and would be better without it.

I've made a lot of muffins in my time but these were awesome. Perfect amount of moistness and sweetness. My modifications are to substitute oat bran for 1/2 of the four, and to bury some cranberries in each muffin before baking, as I love the contrast between tart cranberries and sweet apples. I didn't care for the maple cream cheese filling that much. I'm guessing the type of apple used and how fine it is chopped would greatly affect the outcome. I used one Rome and one Granny Smith, shredded instead of chopped.

I was also dissappointed with these muffins. I agree they looked and sounded so good. The crumble topping was very good and the best part of the muffin. The rest of the muffin was very bland and after sitting a while in the paper muffin cups they became quite greasy. If I was to make these again I would maybe use a different apple (I used red delicious because it's what I had on hand) add white sugar and use vegetable oil instead of canola oil.

Very good! Husband says to leave out the orange peel, though, and add more pecans to the topping. I will substitute 1T. frozen oj concentrate next time for the orange peel and increase the nuts by half. Son in law didn't think the muffins were sweet enough, but he may have been comparing them to cupcakes.

LOVED Lisadiane's review. Ditto for me! This recipe looks really good. Going to try this weekend. Oh and BTW SHOK, I'm a 110 lb loser at Weight Watchers. All things in moderation. Thanks for the recipe Connie.

I was so disappointed with these muffins :( they sounded so awesome. The muffin top itself was amazing but the bottom half was a little bland, but moist. I would only make this one other time only to push the cream cheese more toward the center (it just stayed on top) Oh and P.S. don't make the muffin if you're just going to complain about the calories and fat.

In response to the emails about commenting and not actually making the recipe (I agree, if the nutritional value offends you don't bother to take time to comment just move along!), you can click on the person that affends and post right to them, this way you can be sure to let them know your opinions. If they don't ever come back to this recipe to have a look at your comments they will never know what everyone else is thinking!

These were great. For those worring aboutcalories, fat, etc. Think about giving themas gifts, or sharing at work.Nowhere in the recipe did it say yourself.

I have to agree with the last few reviews. If it's too much of anything for you, don't make it but don't review it. That being said the only thing I had to change about the recipe is omitting the pecans from the topping since my son is not a fan of nuts. Overall a really great muffin recipe!!

I have never written a review before but after reading the reviews here I just want to say I agree with Lisa. Moderation is the key. I joined weight watchers 4 years ago and have stayed at goal 2 years. I never gave up baking and take my goodies to work. I always have 1 piece of everything I bake. I love Taste of Home and most recipes come from here. So indulge once in awhile. Happy Thanksgiving from a 105 Lb. looser.

I am SO TIRED of people on here expressing unsolicited opinions about the healthiness of a recipe, and even without making it -- this "reviewer" did it twice!! You people must just be so in love with your own voices. Well, I assure you, most readers on here DON'T appreciate it -- I roll my eyes and wish you'd go away every time! Go puff yourselves up on the "I'm Better Than Everyone Else" board, and stop wasting our time!!

The first time I make a recipe, I never modify it; otherwise how can you rate it accurately?? They weren't that hard to make, and they were a fun treat. Probably won't make them real often. And if it's disgraceful, who's forcing you to make it or eat it??? The world is full of all kinds of foods; pick what you want; enjoy everything in moderation!

OOOhhhh!!!! And the calories for a little itty bitty muffin are...well...disgraceful!!!
I am horrified at the nutrition info. The fat, cholesterol, and sodium contents are terrible for a little muffin. Could you knock off a little baking powder, substitute low- or fat-free cream cheese, and cut back on the brown sugar some? I don't even know if that would help any though. Not sure I'll even make these due to the nutrition problems.

This muffin was definitely very moist, but the taste wasn't anything out of the ordinary. And considering the extra work of both a filling AND a topping, my expectation was to be wowed. For the amount of work involved, I did not care for this muffin.

I made these muffins and took some to work. Everyone was asking for the recipe. They are very moist and the cream cheese gives them an added zing.
