Angel Meringue Dessert Recipe

Ingredients

  • 5 egg whites, at room temperature
  • 1/8 teaspoons salt
  • 1/4 teaspoons cream of tartar
  • 1/4 cup confectioners sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons ground walnuts
  • 1 cup thawed frozen whipped topping
  • 8 large strawberries, sliced for garnish
  • Cooking spray

Directions

  • Preheat the oven to 275°F.
  • Cover baking sheet with parchment paper and coat parchment paper with cooking spray.
  • In large bowl, with electric mixer on high speed, beat egg whites and salt until soft peaks form.
  • Gradually sprinkle in cream of tartar and then confectioner's sugar, 2 tablespoons at a time, beating well after each addition.
  • Add vanilla extract and beat until shiny peaks form. Fold in walnuts.
  • Form mixture into a 7-inch circle on the parchment paper. Bake for 1 hour, or until golden color.
  • Turn off oven and let meringue cool with oven door open.
  • Remove from parchment to serving platter or store in airtight container.
