I made it just as written and it was a hit with six adults who were watching their weight; Will make again and again.

I thought this recipe was clean and refreshing. I like light desserts. Keep up the good work.

It was great...I served it for my bridge group and it was so light and easy

The next time this recipe will be use it will be for my granddaughter to earn a badge in Girl Scouts. She needs to make a simple dessert and put it together at a meeting. So what is simpler then buying the cake at the store and mixing the other ingredients and putting it together and serve to a large group of hungry girls

This was wonderful and fast and easy and I want to thank you and please don't listen to all the ones that give a bad review they are jealous and from 1 georgia girl to another it was great

Thank you Jennifer, for a great, quick idea for desert. I am a diabetic and sometimes I'm just too busy or frazzled to think what to serve a guest or ourselves, for a desert. It's a lovely idea, one that I never thought of. Ignore the comments from the chefs we're supposed to bow down to. Surely, at some point before you became so Godlike, you too had days that you just couldn't think of a thing to serve. Sometimes the simplest is the best. Shame on you! I, for one, will definitely serve this again.

I haven't tried it yet, but it sounds wonderful. I have made something similar to this, instead of canned pie filling, I use pudding ( chocolate and vanilla ) or yogurt, with fresh fruit or cook fruit with sauce. I never thought of using canned pie filling.

Great idea, for those times when you need something quick.

Since I teach part-time and need quick recipes to take to carry-ins, I find this is a wonderful choice. I do make my own angel food cakes, but even that sometimes takes more time than I can spare. This is an ideal recipe and makes a beautiful presentation. Since my husband is a diabetic, adjustments can be made which will allow the use of this recipe and still make it fit the carb count he needs to observe. Even fancy cooks sometimes need a quickie to turn to, and this is very nice.

Wonderful, especially for people like me that aren't cooks!

I have yet to make this recipe, but intend to do so tomorrow afternoon for our dinner tomorrow night. Some people are simply so full of themselves that they don't realize that simple recipes such as this can be perfect for those of us who have conditions such as diabetes. These people probably don't have to consider situations such as that and therefore, never think of those of us who live with diseases such as diabetes every day, and have to plan diets around those problems. I pray they will never be put into situations like that, because all this will come back to them like a boulder coming down a hillside. What comes around goes around, folks.Think about it. You get what you give, and kindness is certainly not repaid with hatefulness.

I haven't made the dessert...yet...but it sounds good and easy...and refreshing. Not every recipe has to be really involved. This would be quick to put together at the last minute for a dessert. I probably would even drizzle a bit of chocolate on the plate, or over the cake.

Thank-you for sharing.

I think this sounds like a delicious light dessert and I'll definitely try it. Unfortunately, there are a lot of rude people in this world who don't have an ounce of sense. Lighten up!!

I have not tried this yet. It does sound good. I would like to point out to all the negative responses. You people are very rude. If you cannot say anything nice ,SHUT YOUR MEAN MOUTHS.if you don't like what is sent, simply go to another recipe.Don't belittle someone else for what they believe is good. Shame on you all.

I like this recipe because it is stuff one can have on hand and can whip out for unannounced drop-ins. Also very light and easy after a meal one spent hours making everything from scratch : )

I would call this a recipe for fruit salad! Very disappointed this was presented as an actual recipe!

I had to check the date to make sure it wasn't April Fool's Day. The worst excuse for a recipe I have ever seen here. Please, show the reader some respect.

Reviewed on Jan. 17, 2013 by drdianna

This is absolutely the most disappointing recipe I've ever seen and diminishes my respect for Taste of Home. Anyone can dump some canned pie filling on a chunk of boxed cake and call it a desert without looking at a recipe. It's parallel to putting milk on cereal ... you don't need a recipe.

I make a quicker version of a similar recipe.

I buy the angel food cake that is shaped like a pound cake, slice it and lightly toast it, them put fresh strawberries that have been sweetened with splenda. Whipped cream is optional. The light toasting gives the cake a little crunch. My husband really likes this. A lot fewer calories.

sounds delightful and healthy! To Cookiepaws: It's a prepared angel food cake. I think she bought the cake pre-made from a bakery in the grocery store. :)

Excellent and VERY easy to make. My frozen strawberries had freezer burn, so I substituted frozen raspberries. It was still great.
