Almond Pear Chutney

4 cups chopped peeled ripe pears
1 small unpeeled navel orange, halved and thinly sliced
1/2 cup water
2 teaspoons lemon juice
1-1/2 cups sugar
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/3 cup coarsely chopped unblanched almonds, toasted
2 tablespoons candied ginger, chopped

In a large saucepan, combine the pears, orange, water and lemon juice.
Bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered,
for 10 minutes. Stir in sugar and cinnamon. Bring to a boil. Reduce
heat; simmer, uncovered, for 15-20 minutes or until thickened,

stirring occasionally. Remove from the heat; stir in almonds and
ginger. Serve warm or cold. May be refrigerated for up to 1 week.
